College Prowler Take
Students have overwhelmingly positive remarks about the public transportation, and their favorite part is the price. With a student ID, the bus system is free. Students seem to appreciate the University’s attempt to lessen the effects of the parking crisis on campus and feel that the public transportation compensates nicely for the packed parking lots.
Besides being such a bargain, public transportation is surprisingly efficient. The bus system covers most of Davis, and students don’t usually have to wait long before a bus comes. It may be a good idea to catch an earlier bus than you need because sometimes they can be off schedule, and depending on traffic, the buses can be anywhere from 10 minutes ahead to 10 minutes behind. Generally, the farther away from campus you are, the less punctual the bus. But for being run by students, Unitrans is impressive and a lifesaver when your bike has a flat and it is pouring rain.
