Gay Pride
UCI has a Lesbian Gay Transgender Bisexual Resource Center, as well as the group organizations Irvine Queers and OUTspoken, all of which encourage students to be more open and aware about differing sexual orientations among their peers and act as support groups.
Political Activity
Not known for being the most political campus within the UC system, UCI almost finds pride in having minimal student protests compared to Berkeley or UCLA. The passion’s definitely there, but most Anteaters prefer just chilling with the flow, instead of trying to break political waves.
Economic Status
Although UCI does have a student body that varies in socioeconomic diversity, judging by the high number of BMWs and Lexuses (or high number of cars period) in the parking lots, it’s safe to say the majority of UCI students lean towards economically-strong family backgrounds.
Most Common Religions
Since this is the socially conservative and Republican Orange County, it makes sense that Christian groups are by far the most numerous on campus. Beating out the fraternities and sororities in their zealous flyer handouts, it’s not hard to find an eager Christian waiting to salvage your soul just outside the classroom doors when lectures end.
Minority Clubs on Campus
Minority clubs are an overwhelming majority at UCI. Even fraternities and sororities also seem to be ethnically-based. This is readily apparent along Ring Road where most of the Greeks hang out.
