Lenient Atmosphere, Except for Ring Road

In my experience, the campus police is pretty laid-back. I got pulled over once because I wasn't sure where I was and because I was constantly braking, the cop behind me thought I might be drunk. When he saw that I wasn't, he was really cool and we both had a bit of a laugh out of it. It was nice to know, though, that the on-campus police actually cared enough to pull me over just in case I really was drunk and on the road.

The grade dropped because on Ring Road, you aren't allowed to ride your bike from 8am to 5pm, which is the dumbest rule of all time. They really will give you a ticket if they catch you.

Aggregate rating is far too low to be accurate

I'd have to say, the girls on campus are pretty attractive. Most of the ones I've met have been pretty down to earth. Of course, ymmv. Generally, though, walking along Ring Road, you'll find a lot of the girls have nice complexion and are friendly, lol. I think a few are fairly intelligent, too. Beauty and brains and stuff. Depends on the situation, 'o course!

University of Chinese Immigrants

Irvine has a reputation for being the "University of Chinese Immigrants" for a reason. That being said, UCI represents pretty much every ethnic group you can think of. It's a normal university in terms of dress and interests, but there are admittedly a lot of asians here.

Living on Campus

Living in dorms is really a good experience. You get to meet many different people and live with them. Living on campus is fun and there are many things you can do around here.

UCI Pcs

THe computers are great. There's wireless internet access everywhere except the dorms which I do not understand. Printers are available but we are charged which doesn't make sense given how high tuition prices are.

Diversity

There is a mix of students even international. Most people I see walk or have friends with different ethnic backgrounds.

School Spirit

When students go to the any game, the school gives out free food, shirts, and raffles out some prizes to encourage students to support their school teams.

YES

I am a first year drama major at UC Irvine and i have been very satisfied with my education so far here. all of my professors with the exception of a few have been nothing short of phenomenal.

Ummm..

there isnt much to do, unless you look vary hard and usually the only night anyone goes out is thrusdays the rest of the weekend is dead. Unless you join greek life then you will have a life.

Social Life

Everyone here seems to be happy all the time. I personally feel like I am at Disneyland everyday that I am on campus. I do not feel awkward because there are so many people around me that do not care about how I look or what I wear. People are friendly and will talk to you no matter what and everyone is good looking as well.

Rules

I do not believe Irvine is a strict school. Like any school academic dishonesty is frowned upon and punished. Other then the regular regulations of a university Irvine does not seem any stricter then the rest. The only thing Irvine pays a lot of attention on is parking, tickets are given out daily for those without a parking permit and the cost of those tickets are high.

Campus Life

Living in campus is extremely expensive. Dinning and dorm cost alone is roughly around 11,000. They do provide students without a variety of amenities, such as designated study areas, computer labs, etc. I love living on campus, the atmosphere is warming, but the price is not.

Safety

It is extremely safe on UCI campus. We can walk back to our rooms after a 10PM class without feeling unsafe. Doors can be left open, although it is best to close them, just in case. Over all I find it a very safe school.

Good, but Expensive

UCI offers plenty of eating options, from Panda Express to Wendy's to Jamba Juice and Starbucks. Across from the main campus are University centers that offer even more dining choices, which is perfect if you have a long break between classes. The prices are expensive, though, with a burger combo from the school ranging around $7. Allot a budget -- you'll need it.

Sunny Weather With a Chance of Sprinkle

UCI rarely gets a bad day. If bad, it'll only be windy and sprinkling, but besides that, it's mostly sunny. However, do be careful of random weather mood changes.

Ticketing: Police's Thrill

Since UCI is a pretty lonely place, it's easy to become a target to parking tickets. Not to mention that they're pretty expensive. I advise you to live honest and just buy a parking permit rather than taking the risk to park and leave for five minutes.

IDK

I'm only a freshman here and the unwanted GEs are killing me. Not to mention my unfortunate encounters with hacking and thefts. I could only pray that it'll get better from here. Irvine may be the safest city, but remember, not everybody's from Irvine.

Relationship Status: Married to the Library

Perhaps it's just me, but I'm always busy trying to ace the tests. Ir probably is just me. There are a lot of pretty girls, but not too sure about the guys, which makes me the unfortunate victim.

Humanities Core: GE Killers, GPA Murderer

As a Film & Media Studies major, I'm required to enroll into Humanities Core, which is a year-long course that eliminates two GEs per quarter. It's a great way to save time and money, but it's also the worst way to spend your weekends and weekdays. However, it may be just me since I greatly dislike analyzing and writing persuasive essays. If you're in for the challenge, I highly recommend it. However, if you're not as motivated or dedicated to do well in college, I advise for you to kill your GEs in another way. Got Bs from my last quarter, no guarantee for this quarter.

Perfect Weather

Weather cannot be more perfect than here. Southern California sun provides warmth and light, and the beach is pretty close to campus. The wind is nice and breezy, and there is never any rain.

Diversity

UCI is being known for "the university of California of Chinese and Indians". This is a relatively true statement. Also, Irvine is known as being a rich city. However, there are plenty of non-Asian students and people of all backgrounds.

Food

Dining food is great, and there are different options to choose from. There are also well known places to eat on campus such as Wendy's, Subway, Panda Express. Not to mention, there is an University Town Center right next to campus with other restaurants. Close by is the Spectrum and Diamond Jamboree.

Average

The weather here is pretty constant. Average 70s pretty much year-round. A few showers in the winter (occasional storms). Some dry spells here and there. No snow.

Good Fit

The students with whom I socialize at my school are creative, fun and studious. They are friendly and supportive.

Drugs

Its college. Theres tons of alcohol. Many people smoke weed. Ecstasy is also popular.
