Since UCLA is Los Angeles, the hubbub for business, there are tons of internships and job opportunities. One thing that I don't like is that we don't have an accounting major at UCLA. We only have an accounting minor, but it doesn't prep us for the CPA examination.

The scholarship department is superb. The women who work there are the most helpful people on campus. In your initial meeting they ask you many questions to help build your profile. The center has hundreds of scholarship books. They also have a great bulletin board and Facebook page. They print a monthly listing of scholarships. The financial aid office is always busy but the lines move pretty fast. From my experience you get better service in person than over the phone. Most financial aid at UCLA is need based. So if you don't qualify for need based the scholarship office is your best bet.

UCLA is a powerhouse when it comes to athletics. This year they won the NCAA College Baseball World Series. There is hands down great student involvement. The teams in all sports are some of the best in the nation. There is incredible school spirit. The athletic facilities are superb. The school has a long history of being a superior sports university. UCLA students take a lot of pride in their teams even if they don't play sports.

UCLA is located in a mediterranean climate. The days are beautiful even in the winter. The rainy season is December through February. The rain is not what one would encounter in other parts of the states. No thunder and rarely any lightening. June in Los Angeles is known as June gloom, the sun does not come out until late in the day. Summer months are warm but not excruciating. The nights are always cool. So students know to layer up. The weather affects campus life in the most positive way possible.

Student life is great at UCLA. There is a club or organization for everyone. During the week the main walkway near the main bookstore is lined with tables with representatives to the various clubs on campus. This area is a major hub for this type of activity. UCLA is loaded with campus events and traditions. During its games with USC the bruin is put into hibernation to protect it. This is pretty serious stuff. Every center you go into from the athletic center to the libraries are immaculate and state of the art. The campus was many many years ago farming land so there are acres of green spaces. The campus has beautiful massive trees and gorgeous landscaping throughout.

UCLA is located in the middle of Westwood which has great restaurants within walking distance to campus and the dorms. There is also a great public transit system which can take one into Santa Monica and Venice. You are literally minutes away from the ocean. There are plenty of opportunities for a great nightlife. The local theatre has many Hollywood premieres, so celebrities are only a block away from campus. The campus is also used for filming major motion pictures. If getting in the best physical shape is a priority for you, UCLA now has the new Wooden Center and working out is right at your finger tip. But you can also use the bleachers and track on campus. The weather is almost always perfect for outdoor activities.

We do have a Greek life on campus, however, it's not the focal point of the campus. There are parties and events, but if you're not a part of it or don't go, you won't be missing out. It's great if you're in it, and it's also great if you're not. It's an addition to the college experience, but not necessary to have a college experience.

The weather is great in UCLA, being in southern California. We get at least 350 days of sunshine and it never passes 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and even then 90 degrees is rare. If anything, the local weather will motivate you to make your day the best, because it's always such a great day outside.
College Freshman 2013-08-01T02:19:36Z
UCLA is an exceptionally lovely space. North Campus is beautiful, and while South Campus has much more to ask for, it's still pretty astonishing. Pauley Pavillion is new renovated with upgraded equipment in the rec center. It's an overall great campus.

I received a decent amount of financial aid and I had no problem with submitting documents for confirmation. If the amount does not meet my need, an appeal can be made. It's a fairly smooth process.

The weather is beautiful. During the day, it is usually warm, sunny, and breezy. At night, it cools down to a comfortable temperature. Rain in nonexistent!

Everyone is very school spirited, so athletic events, such as basketball and football games are great places to go to hang out.
College Sophomore 2013-07-31T23:47:06Z
The gym is really big and very accessible. The student union has all the college student essentials and is a great place to stop by in between classes.
College Sophomore 2013-07-31T23:46:22Z
Dining hall food is really good, there's plenty of choices within the dining hall and you can choose from multiple dining halls.

Professors love when you are there to actually learn from them. They love when you go to their office hours, and actually talk to them above the course material.

There is alot of work involved, but I learn alot regardless of what my grade is. Some classes unexpectedly cause me to become even more interested in the subject that I thought I was before the class.

Walking distance to various restaurants and bars. Some restaurants have student discounts. Diddy Riese is a popular cookie and ice cream spot.

Parking is expensive; and it's difficult to find street parking.
College Junior 2013-07-31T20:57:16Z
Plenty of libraries; lots of green spaces to sit and relax; always an event to check out; plenty of organizations with activities to join.
College Junior 2013-07-31T20:54:30Z
Plenty of student organizations to join; only a bus ride to the beach; good restaurants are walking distance; beautiful campus and diverse people.

Sometimes, you have to wait in line for a computer station at the library and sometimes you don't. I think it just depends on the week or time of day. The speed, wireless access, and printer are reliable.
College Junior 2013-07-31T05:51:34Z
I give it an A- just beacuse of the registration process. Independent undergraduate students should look up the residence guidelines and policies at least three years in advance before attending any UC. I think their financial independence policy needs to be reevaluated.

As a Psychology major I am thus far, satisfied with my education. The professors are accomplished and are active in research. The workload does get to be much if you also work and participate in campus events. But, there plenty of on-campus job opportunities so that is convenient.
College Junior 2013-07-31T05:29:46Z
There are plenty of apartments to find off-campus. There are service provided through the school with which you can search for roommates as well. My problem is with the cost, which is a big factor in my decision process.
College Junior 2013-07-31T05:26:18Z
The permit cost is extremely expensive especially for an independent student like myself. The parking structure available for students isn't necessarily the closest to their department buildings, which means one needs to plan for getting to school on time, finding a parking spot, and then also considering to make time for the walk to the classroom!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
