The graduate family housing is nice and has a lot of facilities, but it's a bit far from the campus.

The sports facilities are awesome. We have wonderful training and workout facilities.

There are great restaurants and bars in westwood area. The food trucks are also awesome. It's LA!

So far the financial aid dept has been useful in providing any tips for me

There are lots of different places to eat at in Westwood. Hollywood and the rest of LA could be fun to.

UCLA has some of e best athletics of the nation. We have 109 NCAA championships with everyone being involved in some way or another. E support is great with fans all over the school.

Public transportation is very feasible for students. Certain busses offer discounts. There are buses that shuttle students from campus to Westwood, our neighboring city. There is also the option for students to rent Zip cars to leave further away from campus.

There is a wide variety of restaurants based ethnic specific preference or whatever it may be. There is fast food, expensive places and more affordable places. I never experienced bad customer service and the food is great. The restaurants are a great way to get away and hang out.

In Westwood, there are movie theaters and great restaurants. There are nice places to shop and just get away from campus. What's even better is that everything is in walking distance.

I am a Business Economics Major and Accounting Minor. The Accounting classes and Business classes are beyond great, so A+!!! However the Economics classes are very lacking (from my experience) and there are not even a handful of great Economics professors in UCLA, hence the A-.

There are definitely a lot of diversity on the campus. However there is no real group that joins all the diverse groups together, which I find a little disappointing. In other words, all the Koreans stay with Koreans, Caucasians stay with caucasians, and afro-americans stay with Afro-Americans.
College Junior 2013-07-09T22:24:29Z
The food is hands down amazing. I would totally go back to eat at the dining halls after graduating.

Everything about the school is great except for the Financial Aid office. They do not figure out much for you and do not know how to help in a lot of situations. Other than that, UCLA is a great school that has a lot of activities that get the students involved. Also has a great Accounting program but a horrible Economics programs.

There are plenty of computer labs in almost every major building, which makes it convenient for students to find computers and study even during exam season. The WIFI is fast, and there are several computer labs that offer free printing every quarter.

The lines at the financial aid office are always very long, so it is highly recommended to go see the financial aid counselor at random times throughout the day, especially when students are in class. It is important to be proactive and make regular appointments with the counselors in order to maximize the chance of applying for every eligible grant or scholarship

UCLA is the perfect place to be as a tourist. There are so many events happening everywhere all the time. There are fun little things such as food trucks and farmers markets. There are museums such as LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), MOCA (The Museum of Contemporary Art), Fowler Museum and the Hammer Museum. Within about 5 miles radius around UCLA you can find Santa Monica Beach, Westwood Village, 3rd Street Promenade, Beverly Hills, and Rodeo Drive. The Staples center is also relatively close. There is always an event occurring at the Staples Center. Hollywood, and Jimmy Kimmel Live is also close to UCLA. There are many malls surrounding UCLA. Although everything is relatively close, LA is not a transportation-friendly city. There's often traffic. What could have been a 10 minute drive to the beach could turn into an hour and a half by bus.

I'm in pre-business economics at UCLA. This major is considered average in terms of workload and difficulty. It isn't as "easy" as Anthropology or World Arts and Culture, but it isn't as difficult as Mathematics or Chemistry. I have heard that UCLA school of business is not practical enough for the real world, so some students have difficulty acquiring a job after graduation. I constantly receive emails from the Economics department about internships and job opportunities. However as a first year, I did not look much into these offers yet.

Since UCLA is so large, you get a large variety of professors. Thankfully, we have something called "bruinwalk" where people review their professors so other students get an idea of what their professor may be like before they take the class. Most professors are brilliant, cutting-edge, knowledgeable, or active in their field work. However, some are eager for students to learn, while others are there just to be funded for their research or for other personal reasons.
Also, registration can be a pain. There are so many restrictions such as credit limitations in order to register for a class. Again, since the school is so large, they want to ensure that seniors and juniors get the classes they need.

There are many computer labs on campus and many computers in these labs. Some rooms require reservation, or are only accessible to students with a University ID. Some computers are very slow, others are very fast. There was one room full of Macs for students to use.
Network connection in dorms is very dependable. However, on campus, you often find yourself without internet access. Especially in some classrooms, it could take twenty minutes just to get a connection.
Printing on campus is somewhat convenient. Every student gets 100 free pages to print per quarter. After that, each page is $.05. Sometimes the line can be long.
I think it is very important to have a personal computer and printer. Especially if you are finishing an essay at midnight and you have an 8am the next day. You don't want to wake up extra early just to print. Every class I've had, besides math, has required the use of a computer.
College Sophomore 2013-07-09T02:14:27Z
There is a very large variety of food around campus and the dorms depending on what you are in the mood for. Sometimes the food gets old though, after eating it so many times. But the quality is very good.

Health & Safety:
UCLA is completely since it is surrounded by a clean and safe community of Westwood. Since UCLA is a huge campus, the school provides its students with the utmost safety. However, be sure to keep your dorm rooms locked to keep your personal belongings safe just in case your neighbors invite rude visitors.

As an Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics major, I will be mainly involved with research opportunities that are in the lab. Since my future career of becoming a Microbiologist requires a lot of experience, whether an internship or research opportunity is paid or not, I will need to participate in the opportunity to gain experience in my field. I have not yet taken part in any opportunities, but I will be participating in any program that wil help me gain a greater insight into my career objective.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
