The dining halls are supposed to be one of the best of college campuses. They change the menu everyday and you have lots of options to go where you want to eat.

It's Los Angeles so the weather is great. Most days are sunny and beautiful but it's a drag when it rains.

It's usually sunny here in Los Angeles. There are a few rainy days here and there, some cloudy days, and a few months of cold weather, which really isn't cold weather when compared to New York or Seattle. It's a drag walking to class in 40 degree weather when you've been living in SoCal since birth, but that's generally the coldest weather you'll ever experience while at LA.

Besides the really great food served on the Hill, housing at UCLA isn't that great. Room and board is very expensive compared to other UC campuses, with different types of rooms and different types of meal plans constituting different price tags. The rooms are also small for the price the students pay, and maintenance takes a while to actually come by during an emergency (e.g. clogged toilet). It's also really tiring to walk all the way up to the dorms, since it is on a hill. The social atmosphere isn't great in the dorm plazas and suites.

Health & Safety:
The area at UCLA is generally pretty safe. I have not encountered anything horrible happening, but there have been some incidents of rape and robbery. Those incidents are, however, not too common. The streets of Westwood are also rather safe and filled with people, even at night. There should be lighting on campus and more emergency buttons around.

The schools is pretty lenient. It is not irresponsible though. There are quiet hours during dorms from 11pm-5am. When going to your dorm, there is security which requires you to swipe your bruin card to ensure security.

UCLA, is an amazing school with great faculty and caring staff. It offers study-abroad programs and over 1,000 clubs! The work load is challenging but manageable!

Parking permit costs are outrageously expensive due to the limited availability or parking spots. There are many lots on campus; however, spots are limited when compared to the number of students who attend UCLA. Fortunately, there is no need for a car on campus, because everything is at walking distance, and westwood is just a few blocks away. Residential areas are right up the hill next to campus as well. It is quite easy to get a ticket/fined because there are parking enforcers who constantly check every parking lots. Parking spaces are extremely difficult to find due to the high population of people, limited street parking space and narrow streets.

Overall, the dining options at UCLA are amazing. The dining halls are a buffet-style and serve a great variety of foods, including vegetarian and vegan options. The quick-service restaurants also serve great quality food in big portions. There are so many food and dining options on campus and the residential area, and it they are so easy to access from class and the dorms.

UCLA excel at many sports and win many championships. Students always have bruin pride and support all sports.

UCLA is a very diverse university. As a minority myself, I feel like I belong on campus through them many clubs and organizations. There is a club for everyone. Also, UCLA offers many classes that aim to bring awareness about diversity such as Chicana/o Studies, African American studies, LGBT studies, etc.

Since it is in the center of Los Angeles it is very easy to get around on public transportation. You can pretty much take one bus to your destination, whether it be to the mall, beach, or Beverly Hills. UCLA also offer students rides after 6pm to any part of campus, campus housing or apartments.

Like most places in Los Angeles, UCLA is mostly sunny. So if you enjoy the sun then this is a great place to be. However, like Southern California weather, it does randomly rain here and there. Other than that you won't need to buy expensive jackets to stay warm. One or two hoodies will do you just fine. There is a lot of stuff to do outdoors and indoors around campus so the weather, more than often, suits the occasion. Students take the bus to the beach or go shopping in local Westwood shops.

GEtting into my department was something i casually got into by the classes i was interested in during community college. The most important criteria for admission is consistent grades and the required courses needed for the major. Nothing to abnormal. Stay consistent with your grades at community college because it can get difficult when you also have to work and study.

Im starting to love it more and more everyday. I surrounded by amazing museums that can help me with better opportunities. My parents are not very thrilled and wished i pursued the medical field, but i feel it is important to follow my heart and my dreams. In terms of finding a job i hope to land an internship and me the right people in order to get where i need to go.

Campus life is amazing! There's always something to do and many great food places.

Parking is too expensive so I don't have a pass. Most people buy parking off campus if they go home.

I loved being a neuroscience major. It was a fairly small major as far as the life sciences go and I loved how the whole program was so cutting edge. It is very research based/heavy. I had no problem getting a job straight out of college and have now been accepted to medical school so it prepared me well for where I wanted to go!

UCLA has amazing facilities. The John Wooden Center Gym is beautiful with great workout space and offers many workout classes. There are tons of libraries on campus which suit different study styles (noise level, tables vs. couches, etc.) Student spirit is very apparent at sporting events as well as during traditional events like Spring Sing and rivalry week.

Like any university, there was a lot of alcohol present at UCLA. Most of this was off campus (in apartments/frat houses). There are plenty of people on campus who do not partake in these activities though so it is easy to avoid if you want to.
Recent Alumnus 2013-03-23T23:12:19Z
I loved almost every aspect of UCLA. The campus is beautiful and the facilities are top notch. There is ready access to research opportunities, volunteer programs, and personal wellness resources. The faculty are all well known and respected in their fields. I loved how many events took place on campus (both university sponsored as well as privately sponsored) that students had access to.
The only negative to UCLA is the huge class size. You really have to go out of your way to get to know professors (especially in science courses) and it is easy to be struggling without anybody taking notice. UCLA is a perfect university for a self motivated student who is willing to speak up for themselves.

The drug scene is visible only in smoking but any other drug is pretty much off campus. Those who do drugs are far off on the boundaries of the school or really isolated areas.

Guys & Girls:
UCLA has many types of girls and guys. I have seen athletic, jocks, southerners, country, preppy, nerds, geeks, and many international students. Girls are so different from style to personality.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
