I am a double major (Political Science and Sociology). The process was simple and basic. Pass require lower division classes and obtain proper GPA. For other majors it might be more difficult especially if the major or program you are looking for is impacted.

UCLA is amazing because it has something for everyone. Theres a massive amounts of clubs and different organizations. If one does not fit your needs, then create it. Its really simple at UCLA.

I loved living at UCLA. I lived in the dorms all four years and have lived in a combination of plazas and residential halls. There are so many things to do living at UCLA, and it offers so many free programs it is hard to get bored. The rooms are smaller compared to other schools; but it makes it really easy to socialize or connect with people around you. The resources that are in the Dorms (on the hill) are amazing from a 24hour computer lab, to help with academics.

Moderate. Winter here means two weeks of rain. Other than that it is flip-flop weather all year around! There are a couple of spots on campus where water tends to pool, and the lush green grass becomes muddy detouring the usual route of cutting across the lawns.

UCLA dining services is an award winning program, making living in the residence halls enjoyable. There are campus dining options all over campus including traditional dining halls, coffee shops, mini-markets plus chain restaurants like Taco Bell and Carl's Jr. located inside of Ackerman Union. My favorite spot: North Campus Student Center for HUGE breakfast burritos!

UCLA is one of the most highly applied to universities in the United States and for good reason. The campus is majestic, with brick buildings and walkways, hidden gardens in addition to an international reputation of academic excellence. Located in Westwood, California, UCLA is centrally located next to Hollywood, Venice Beach, and Santa Monica.

There is something truly nostalgic about UCLA. The beautiful brick buildings, lush gardens, the tolling of the bells. There are several large libraries on campus, a bustling student resource building as well as a rather expansive store in the heart of campus.

UCLA is very involved in athletics. As you may already know we have a very big rivalry against USC. Their are always very good turnouts when it comes to games especially the ones against USC. Every year before the UCLA-USC football game they had different rallies to help motivate our players. It is a very good experience.

Being a student at UCLA definately challenges you to well in your classes when there are certain GPA requirements to get into the major but I do enjoy it. If it was easy to get into the major than it definately wouldn't be viewed as prestigious as it is now. There is a lot of workload but it only benefits us as students. There are a wide variety of internship and job opportunities offered to us as students. Recruiters from the Big Four companies frequently come to the campus to recruit Business economics or Accounting majors. They are very good opportunities because these businesses are very highly ranked.
College Sophomore 2013-03-04T22:08:53Z
Business Economics is a very popular major but also very competitive. I would definitely stick with it because although it is very hard, it is something that pays off in the future. Business is always going to be needed and it is very broad. You can go into many different field with business economics such as Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Auditing, Real Estate, etc.
College Sophomore 2013-03-04T21:44:50Z
To get into business economics can be somewhat challenging. GPA is largely taken into consideration. You have to receive at least a 3.0 GPA and receive certain grades for some of the pre-major classes. If you are not already in the major you have to take the pre-major classes and once that is done, you have to petition to be admitted into the major.

There are fun bars and local hangouts just off-campus in Westwood, though my favorite nightlife activity by far was in Hollywood. Such a crazy, amazing place.

UCLA is located in Westwood, just a couple miles from Hollywood and Downtown. Personally, I love the city vibe. Westwood is very much designed to cater to college students, with book shops, cafes, small restaurants, etc. For L.A., very it's clean and safe. But if you feel like getting out into the city it's easy to do so. You can't find a cooler place than Sunset on a Friday night.

Parking is extremely difficult to find both on and off-campus. If you're living on-campus you'll need to apply for a parking permit so you can park in one of the lots near the dorms. It's a lottery system, so no guarantees. Without a permit it's virtually impossible to keep a car while living on-campus.
However, if you do manage to get parking, the lots tend to be quite safe even late at night.

I am an African American Studies major and the professors that UCLA has available for this major are amazing They are very educated and most are published and well known nationally and internationally. They offer a variety of classes as well as independent study. UCLA takes student leaders and molds them into greater leaders, if they are ready for the challenge. The African American Studies curriculum provides one with electives from other majors that compliment the Afro-Am major. All departments continue to broaden the horizans of there students by offering guest lectures / authors. Student must develop great time management skills to participate in the educational wealth UCLA provides.

UCLA is great at providing everything their students need to receive an excellent quality education. The libraries have loaner apple computers students have access to every day. One can borrow an apple computer for 4 hr periods and renew if needed. There are also computer labs that have computers and printers. Some centers provide free printing and computer use. During orientation they will provide information. Networking with other students will give one additional information. It is always great to have your own computer as it saves time. They also have an apple store on campus in the same building a the bookstore.

I am very happy with my major, African American Studies. I had initial plans of attending law school but my plans now include medical school. UCLA exposes one to so much opportunity. The work is challenging as the professors are amazing and want their students to become great leaders. One is basically a leader in training at UCLA. I have experienced great counseling from a variety of great counselors. They take their jobs seriously, which is giving you the guidance to achieve your goals. I would do everything the same way. I am very pleased that I was directed to select UCLA.

parking permits are expensive but at least you are guaranteed a space.

I have never been involved in the drug scene at UCLA. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but it isn't something you will find on campus. Drinking is a popular thing within the Greek community. It isn't always an activity people can participate in when they have to be on top of their studies.

Guys & Girls:
There are several types of people here at UCLA. Anyone will be able to find someone to connect with.

California weather is magnificent. It is not too cold and not too hot. Evidence of this is revealed in the form of international students everywhere claiming that the weather is amazingly stable and just right. Even students from out of state say that their weather is not quite as ideal as that of California. Beach weather is perfect in the spring and the summer; winter weather is manageably cold, but not too cold.

Political science major only requires four pre-requisites to enter, and only has four more classes to finish to declare it fully. No application was required, and I was able to simply go into it. The major is quite easy and leaves plenty of room for other classes, raising the possibility of double major.
College Sophomore 2013-02-28T02:02:33Z
The political science major is not the most interesting, but it segweys very well into the law career. It's not too bad either; I think of it as a boring but sometimes entertaining fiction book. With that being said, this major is very easy and not many classes are required; you could easily double major. I fully recommend this major to anyone due to accessibility.

I have found an internship at a nearby law firm, due to my aspirations of being a lawyer. Even though I'm only helping print stuff and organize, I can gather a lot about my future occupation. I feel like internships are pivotal in preparing for the future.

The food in the dining halls surpasses any other college dining hall food I've had. There is a good variety and there is even an Asian dining hall. Every year there is a theme day where all of the dining halls serve one kind of food. This year is Filipino food.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
