Very Laid Back – I have yet to see a single person be reprimanded. Go to class or don't (as long as you pass). Hide contraband appliances in your closet. Don't let your RA see or smell alcohol. Be reasonably quiet during quiet hours.

Guys & Girls:
While the (un-hot) nerdy types are common, there are both hot nerds, and, well, the future US olympic water polo team. Just saying.
The girls are either in sportwear, bruinwear, or very polished. No matter what they wear, they look good, especially their toned legs courtesy of the Hill.

Wifi Everywhere, Just Not Very Fast – There is wifi everywhere on campus that you should be on the internet. A few of my classes don't have it, but you need to take notes, not check facebook. The computer labs have busy hours and slow ones. The wifi is a little slow in the dorms if you are high up and/or far away from the central building of your mini-community. It is fastest around Ackerman. Tech support, however, is very good.

Excited to Continue Attendance – Everyone is helpful, and as big as the school is, there is a sense of community. I love that the school is also close to many recreational places like the beach. I know I'll also be getting the best education around.

Happy to Have a Spot – I applied for a parking spot late but I am happy to say that I appealed and was promptly given a spot at the same price as those who applied on time.

Lonely at Times – So far I haven't met anyone with my major. Everyone just looks at me funny when I tell them I'm an Applied Linguistics major, but I don't mind because languages are my passion.

This Is LA – You need a car to get around. The buses are pretty fast and reliable though.

Very Diverse – This is as good as it gets. At UCLA, you have all kinds of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Dorms Are Alright – The dorms at UCLA are ok, but not great. It really depends on the building and the type of room that you choose. Triples in the halls are extremely cramped, but the plaza rooms are better.

One of the Best – My friends often visit in anticipation of eating at our dining halls. Then they complain about how bad their food is compared to ours.

Sigh Biology – I was already head over heels for science. Once I attended UCLA's Freshmen Orientation and saw the multitude of friendly people and the such ease they were having with their classes, that I just stayed with Biology as my major. I'm completely looking forward for my future science and math classes.

Health & Safety:
Extremely Safe ...No Really – My future campus's crime rate is completely low compared to schools worldwide.

A Thrilling Aroma – The university is surrounded by museums, shopping centers and lots of restaurants, but overall a pleasant peaceful environment is felt.

The Big Blue Bus – The fastest way to travel besides by car is through the big blue bus. This bus has a direct route to UCLA called the S12, Super 12. Any other bus would take forever to get you to school or back but if you take the bus, make sure to take the super 12 because its fast and affordable. Only $.35 to ride if your a student.

Very Diverse – If your looking fore diversity, then UCLa is the place to find it. ALthough there is not an equal amount of each race, you can probably find at least one person from a certain country. UCLA puts in extra effort to fill the school with rich culture.

The Closer the More Expensive but Convenient – The closer the housing is to the school, the more expensive the rent becomes. However, most of the housing I saw were close by to a shopping center. The school provides off campus housing but you would need to ask the admissions office for help regarding which places are open. If you were to find your own housing then it becomes cheaper but it is more of a hassle.

Strict when they need to be but not too controlling to disallow fun.
College Senior 2011-09-09T15:08:57Z
Don't Pay Attention – The school focuses too much on sports. They shouldn't be any focal part of a school.

Great clean and accessible dorms. Felt like a hotel, which was awesome, but then again kind of bland. Everything is great!

Competitive South Campus – Students are very competitive, especially for South Campus science majors at UCLA. There were some classes that I where I did the best I could but only got a B+ because of the curve. Professors and TA's vary greatly in quality, so students should check Bruinwalk.com before you register. Freshman classes are around 300 students, and upper level classes are around 100 students.

In One Word: Headache – Los Angeles provides adequate public transportation for students wanting to travel to nearby cities. However if you decide to bring a car, you will most definitely regret the decision. Both the campus and neighboring city Westwood are absolutely devoid of parking spots. And if you happen to find a parking spot be wary of where you parking because the parking police hand out tickets like candy.
College Junior 2011-09-02T20:48:51Z
City Provides a Melting Pot – Much like in the city of Los Angeles, there are many different races and types of people at UCLA. They are a large percentage of the student body and have many outlets through which to participate in the school.

Parking on campus can be a hassle at times although it is not a huge problem. Best advice is to arrive early so you can have a nice parking spot. Even though parking permits are a bit costly, it is worth it rather than pay-by-day service.
College Junior 2011-09-02T04:18:57Z
Not a Problem – Drinking is not really a major problem on campus but it does depend on the crowd you surround yourself with. Although there are regulations that students must deal with, it is not an issue that affects the campus as a whole.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe – Even though the large campus of UCLA might be a little intimidating to most students it is a very safe school. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and the staff is always there to help each student. I feel very comfortable walking around, no matter the time of day, and safety has never really been a concern for me and my fellow peers.
