The campus is very pretty and also very large. The buildings have an east coast feel with the red brick but with west coast weather. The dorms are all clustered up on the hill at the edge of campus, which allows for a good community to form. The athletic centers are very good. There's a small one in each dorm and a larger one for everyone's use on campus. The large one includes everything you could want and usually there isn't a wait for machines. The library is a very good environment to study in. My only qualm about it is that it's so far away from the dorms that making it to the library is the hardest part. The general feel of the campus is very lively. The main "Bruin Walk" running through campus is always buzzing with student clubs and groups (and sometimes annoying people handing out fliers.) There is always something to do at UCLA and a place for every type of person.

Some Drug Use – There is some smoking and a good amount of drinking. It is at a controllable level and there is policy enforcement in the dorms. No peer pressure to drink or do drugs

There is a lot of diversity at the school. There are people of all ethnic backgrounds and different student groups/clubs that cater to different people. There is general acceptance of all types of people here.

Good Food – There is a nice variety (multiple dining halls with different foods). The food is good too, but some choices are not very healthy.

I went to UCLA. Some TA are great. I think they teach even better than professor, such as Andy for econ class. However, there are always lazy TA that don't care about students. It's important to pick a good TA

Everything Depend on the Internet – I did received a great amount of financial aid. Many other say that UCLA do offer a lot more financial aid than other school, well, at least it's enough to cover your tuition and your livings. Renting an apartment is quite expensive so prepare for that. When you want to ask them questions, better to go to their office hour, even they told you to email them. Emails take them 1-3 business days but if you go directly to them, you will get more than you have. Good luck with who you are asking, because sometimes they might find you annoying and transfer you to other play. BEWARE. Overall, it's great. Many other submissions and decisions are mostly made through internet. SO you must check your email all the time.

More About Drinking and Partying – 90% of students who do party especially on Thursday to Sunday yet they would stop a week before finals week and finals week. UCLA students seem to know when to play hard and when to study hard. However, drinking is always included mostly all activities at night.

There is a bus system: the Big Blue Bus, that has reduced costs for students. It is very convenient because it comes straight into campus and goes to many of the favorite local spots.

Guys & Girls:
Social Life – If you're a partier, UCLA is generally good for parties at least several times a week.
If you're more into the arts, and more wholesome entertainment, there are always events and clubs to get involved with.
If you just like to hang out, there are lots of people here that are willing to do that too.

Printing on Campus – There seem to be many computer labs, that are available quite frequently, but printing for classes can get pricey. When each page costs $0.10, things add up quickly, especially for a broke college student.

I lived in the dormitories and the suites. I have never lived in the residence halls in which you would have to share a bathroom with the whole floor. The dorms (excluding the halls) are very nice, clean, new looking, and safe feeling. You have to swipe your card to get in every door and elevator, which makes you feel extremely safe!

Keep up the Search – The best advice is to do as much research as possible. After you feel you've done enough, do some more. Then seek out advice from the Financial Aid Office on campus and inquire about different opportunities to fund your schooling. There are limitless scholarships and grants available to students. Finding the one that suits your unique situation best is the difficult task.

Ticket Number 120 – Watch out! UCLA is infamous for parking tickets. This is a tricky matter for all students living off campus who don't want to pay an extra arm and leg for a parking space. On average - emphasis on average - tickets are likely to be seen scattered across windshields on a hourly basis. Street cleaning runs twice a week, once Thursday and once Friday. All I can say is after your first three tickets, which is likely to be the number, think about buying a parking space at your apartment complex.

Day in the Life – Dorm life can be both entertaining and dreadful simultaneously. Freshman dorms are always the ideal way to immerse oneself fully in their new habitat of college living. The best thing about living in the dorms is freedom from mom and dad. Others may rate dining halls as their priority. Who doesn't like not having to cook every meal of the day? But with the upsides coincides a steadily decline to ones sanity due to lack of personal space which tops the list. Not to mention having the nightmare-of-a-roommate with an absence of consideration for you and your personal belongings. Despite all that you've heard, you have the ability to make your college life the most memorable exploit towards adulthood. Money, social status, housing, and declaring a major is just the norms of college life. The best knowledge when starting a four year education is knowing your peers are all in the same position as you.

As of last year, I applied for FAFSA for the first time. I was trying avoid loans as much as possible and receive grants or scholarships. But that usually never happens for any student unless they were financially inept with a low income. Students who do need to pull out a loan at UCLA have to go through a course to learn about what kind of loans there are, and sign an agreement which allows students to receive them. The process for loans was confusing. Therefore students ought to speak with a financial aid counselor regarding these matters.

Here at UCLA, most of the students dwell in athletics. This is probably due to the NCAA; this school has participated in many competitions and won. Therefore, students are motivated. Several of them are involved in sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Tennis, Gymnastics, Martial Arts, etc. Students participate in sports programs for personal reasons, or for the sake of being on a team.
