BRUIN DIRECT MAKES IT GREAT – I recommend all freshmen/transfers should enroll in Bruin Direct Deposit ASAP.
Instead of waiting for a physical check in the mail, students will receive money straight to their bank account about 2-3 weeks in advance. This makes the process easier and faster!

Greek life does not dominate the party scene at UCLA. I don't like how they are very superificial and shallow when it comes to picking the people who join the sorority or fraternity. I'm glad it does not dictate the social life of UCLA!

Great Food Options – UCLA dorms may not be the newest but the food is great! Bruin Cafe has great sandwiches (ham and swiss, roast beef, soups, salads, etc.). There are lots of dorm cafeterias too. I miss dorming because of the food!

A Huge Pain – I applied for as much as I could but wasn't eligible for a lot and ended up getting only loans which in the end does nothing to help. But it is a public university so there isn't a lot of money to give out anyway.

GE Clusters – These are open to college freshmen, and they last a year. It is a class that you take, and at the end of the year, instead of only receiving three GE credits, you get four, plus a writing requirement. They are really good to knock out classes in subject areas that are less interesting to you.

Went Through Easily. After i filled out my fafsa, it went through smoothly. after i answered a few questions, my financial aid was in.

It Does Not Affect It Very Much. Sometimes it gets extremely hot and I get tired walking up the hills, but other than that, the weather is perfect.

Very School Spirited – Our school has many sports teams from football, basketball, and soccer to rowing, tennis, and swimming. Our school may not be the highest ranked but every student is proud to be a Bruin, and we are very school spirited.

It's so amazing, I can't remember much. Just kidding.

Health & Safety:
It's really safe, and I've never felt in danger.

Straightforward, but the Sites and Help Services Could Use Improvement – It's quite easy to get FA at UCLA; you apply as you apply for admission by choosing relevant categories. They take these into account as well as merit-based aspects (SAT score, grades, you know the deal). In my experience, they are generous with financial aid if you require it!
In general, UCLA is HUGE and there is a lot of red tape, so you need to be independent to some extent- don't expect to have your hand held! You need to keep up with deadlines and understand financial aid information yourself!

UCLA has amazing, picture-perfect facilities that attest to its reputation of being world-class. There is the enormous yet cozy ornate Powell Library; Royce Hall within the same breathtaking court, where you can enjoy music, theater, and other performance for student prices; John Wooden Center, a large gym located in the heart of campus in Bruin Plaza that offers a variety of high caliber workout equipment; and Ackerman Union, a multi-story facility where you can get fast food, buy textbooks, and stop by the enormous UCLA store all in one go! Besides the obvious ones, there is also Kerkchoff, the distinctly Hogwarts-like building that contains a coffee house, study room, and a Grand Salon where one can catch student-produced standup comedy or open mic sessions; a planetarium atop the Math and Science Building complete with enormous telescopes that are free and open to the public; several multi-story research libraries where one can really get some studying done; and a modern Student Activities Building where you can find out how to get involved in some of the student clubs and visit the Testing Bank to practice for an upcoming exam. That's just the main section of campus and just a few facilities!

I Am Currently Disappointed – I was given a full college grant that paid for my education, and recently it was all taken away from me. Now, I am paying full tuition and going through the loan processes. I am highly disappointed. The process was not as swift as I thought. I had to wait several days many times for things to get approved.

Great School Overall Because There Is So Much to Do – There is a range of different clubs that make sure not to go unnoticed. They do their best to spread the word every single day as students walk on campus. The campus makes sure to set up events to involve the students and make sure it is not a dull campus. There are opportunities to do whatever one wishes.

Guys & Girls:
Friendly Environment Wherever I Go – Throughout my experience, I have always met friendly faces. Perhaps it may be because I tend to approach people in a friendly manner, but the people I encounter are friendly and helpful. They dress in comfy clothes, as they know there is no need to impress others in an academic environment. Everyone is able to join groups that interest them and hang out with those with similar tastes in things. The relationships between one another can ultimately end up close. It's like one big, happy family.

Average Rates of Enrollment for Traditionally Underrepresented Students – The overall percentages of minority students from traditionally underrepresented communities are average, at best.

Family Housing – Overall, the affordability, proximity to campus, amenities, and quality of the family housing are outstanding and make a difference to my overall ability to be successful.

Not What I Really Expected – UCLA has always been my dream school, but once I got here, it's not such a wonderful place. The academics are super great, but I have not made many friends. People have not been so great to me in the six months I've been here.

Small in Such a Big Campus – Being a French major at UCLA is very unique due to the fact that most people here are majoring in psychology or sociology. The French classes are very small, as is the French department. I love French so I do not really mind how big the program is. I feel very special when I tell everyone that I am a French major because I love it.

Places to Eat – There are many places to get great food on or around campus, no matter what your personal diet or preference. There's also a lot of diversity of foods around, so if you want, you can try new and interesting kinds of foods you maybe weren't used to.

LA Rocks! It's a little hot in August and September and the campus is hilly, but it hardly ever rains and it's better here then just about anywhere else.

The football team is mediocre, basketball is good this year, and I'm looking forward to baseball season. There's good student involvement. The bus to the games at the Rose Bowl is very convenient.

A lot of students who live in the residential area tend to drink alcohol at parties. I don't believe these people are peer-pressured, but it would be nice to see the number of students drinking reduced.

The campus is full of outstanding personalities. There are always religious groups on campus sponsoring their clubs. Everyone comes from a different economic background, but it is not a barrier from interacting with other students. The campus is very diverse. There are numerous organization to participate in, so I feel no one can feel left out. The majority of the students are white or Asian, but there are more and more minority students coming in each year.

The Subway off campus is really convinient, and the sandwiches are really good. The cost is similiar to other Subways, but there are coupons provided to the students to eat here.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
