I Don't See It – There are people smoking all over campus; it stinks up my day. I don't know what else people do. I know that drinking is a big thing, and weed may also be too, but I don't see it. However, I do smell it around campus often.

Living on Campus – On-campus life is okay. I stayed in Sunset Village-Courtside during my freshman year. It's kind of a dead zone because no one ventures outside of their rooms, with the private bathrooms and all. The quality of the room was nice, though. Hedrick Hall is also pretty nice; De Neve, although a plaza, seems to have a great social atmosphere.

Westwood Dining Options – Although I haven't explored all of Westwood, the area does offer a wide selection of eateries to choose from. The popular and well-known one is Diddy Riese Cookies, an ice-cream sandwich, shaved ice, and cookie shop that always seems crowded but is worth the wait (the cookies are an affordable price and are delicious!). There's also Noodle Planet, which is about two or three blocks from the school. There is Yogurtland, Olive Garden, CPK,and boba places scattered through Westwood, too. Many places offer student discounts, but I don't think I've been to those places yet.

Guys & Girls:
You don't need to dress all pretty to impress people.

Computer Lab – There are new, improved computers than run a lot better than before.

So Expensive – Parking is terrible, mostly because of the cost. There is no lack of parking, but guest parking is horrendous. If one is slightly over the time limit, it's an immediate ticket.

Anything and Everything – Varsity sports are pretty important, especially football. What I like most, however, is the intramural sports. This is the league for the people who just want to play the game for fun. UCLA has everything from dodgeball to wheelchair basketball. And to make things sweeter, our athletic facility, the John Wooden Center, has all sorts of workout equipment, basketball courts, and even a rock-climbing wall. There's a little something for everyone.

The University of California - Los Angeles has the most amazing campus I have seen in California, or any other state. There are many libraries to choose from, but my personal favorite is Powell Library. It has many quiet places to study and many places to study in groups. The lecture halls are amazing as well, equipped with microphones, projectors, and such.

Living LA – Los Angeles is an amazing area filled with fun attractions and great people. I've lived in Los Angeles my entire life, and anytime I take a visit to another state or country, I can hardly wait to get back to Los Angeles. Everything is close to each other, and the bus routes are so easy to follow. The beach is always close, and there is great shopping. It is also a good place to learn about different cultures because of the diversity of the cultures all around. All in all, I LOVE Los Angeles!

Students with disabilities are understood and catered to in a comfortable way. The campus itself is beautiful.

Lots of It. I live off campus, just a block from it. There are so many parties! People drink like there's no tomorrow. The partying happens mostly Thursday through Sunday. That's when it's the loudest. Many people who drink at these parties also smoke herb. It is very common to do those two things. There is a number of people, however, who don't party or who just drink water or juice and might smoke little to none. Some people were into drugs before coming to this school and they bring that attitude with them. Once a friend of mine come to campus tripping on LSD. This is rare, however. Doing drugs seems to be most common with north campus students.

Guys & Girls:
Looks Pricey – The guys and girls vary in appearance. However, in general, there tends to be more Asian and white students, with very few African American students. Almost everyone dresses in quality clothes. I can tell that both the guys and girls shop in expensive stores. Specifics depend on what part of campus you're on. For example, on North campus (art, photography, cinema, theater), there are some pretty creative dressers with lots of color and layers of pants and skirts and scarves. The guys tend to wear tight pants.

Buses Are the Way to Go, Go, Go! Buses are very available, and some of the bus lines give students a discounted fare.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe. UCLA is located in a very safe area in Westwood. But that doesn't mean that community service officers and police officers neglect to patrol the grounds. I feel very safe walking around campus and around Westwood.

Don't Let the Size Intimidate You – UCLA is a large school. The class sizes can be intimidating. However, a lot of the classes also require students to attend smaller discussion sections, encouraging (and by encouraging, I mean your grade usually depends on it) participation by discussing class topics. The professors generally make themselves available with office hours, as do the teaching assistants. So, help is available if you make the effort to seek it.

Greek Culture Promotes Drinking – Greek life is a larger part of UCLA culture than I expected. Thursday night partying is a big deal even for people who have Friday classes. Greek life is just about drinking, which does not interest me.

Dorms Far from Campus – I lived in Hedrick Hall, which happened to be the second oldest and farthest Hall from campus. All dorms are about a mile from classes, which can be very inconvenient.

UCLA dining halls offer diverse menud of classic and ethnic dishes. I appreciate the wide variety of vegetarian selections in certain dining halls. However, it is inconvenient that no restaurants/cafes on campus are included in the meal plan. Only certain dining halls offer sack lunches, which makes it difficult to get lunch on my meal plan without having to pay extra at a school cafe.

It's Los Angeles- You Can Find SOMETHING – Between the clubs on Sunset and the concert venues located all over town, it's easy to find something to do. There are also movie premieres and screenings in Hollywood, and comedy clubs and late-night diners to hang out in. You just have to pick up a paper and look at the events section. There's bound to be something you'll enjoy.

Reasonable, Common-Sense Rules – You are allowed to drink in your room, as long as you don't make excessive noise or disturb other people. RAs tend to be extremely friendly and will only write you up for the most severe things.

Most of the People Are Either Asian or White – People at UCLA are mostly color-blind. As long as you're social and outgoing, you'll meet a lot of people with different interests than you.

Regardless of Your Price Range, You'll Find Something You Like – There is a variety of choices for off-campus dining at UCLA. A popular place for students is Diddy Riese, which has ice cream sandwiches for $1.50. There is an In-N-Out as well, and every fast food option available. There are also more expensive places to eat if you inviting someone special.

Very Good! I'm getting a good education and have a good social life. The only thing it lacks is that it can be a little dirty. Do not stay in certain locations in the city at night.

It's generally perfect: not too hot, not too cold. It's sunny Los Angeles, what can go wrong?

You need a permit to even park near the school. The best way to get one is to say that you have a job on weekends outside of Los Angeles, or say that you're commuting.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
