Big Campus, Yet Never Felt Lost – Academics within UCLA are amazing, I haven't had a professor yet that isn't passionate about the subjects and the students. Most classes are divided into lecture and discussion, which really helps big lectures. Powel Library is just beautiful!

The UCLA campus is really well-kept and beautiful. There is always stuff to do and a lot of clubs to join. Additionally, the education is excellent, although some professors may be more into research than education. Overall, it's a great place to be, and even though I was homesick my first year, I can say that didn't stop me from having a good time with really awesome friends. However, you need to make sure you stay on track with your studies or else you'll fall behind quickly because of the tri-quarter system. But that's why we're here. Studying is important, but so is learning how to be a part of the community.

Health & Safety:
Incredibly Safe, Good Environment – The UCLA campus is really safe. Even though I study at the library and head back to the dorms late at night, I never felt that walking back was dangerous. Even so, it is good to walk with a couple of friends at night. If you need it, there are a lot of campus services available, like one where somebody walks you back to the dorm. Overall, it's very safe and a fun, beautiful place to live.

It Works If You Live Nearby and Don't Need to Drive. The public transportation system is fairly accessible if you live nearby. The Santa Monica, Culver City, and Metro buses all pass campus. However, there is no train line to UCLA, which makes a commute from across town insanely long. Parking is absolutely outrageous. They have increased the cost of parking on campus by about $5 since I was a freshman five years ago, and parking officers are overly eager to cite you for something.

Guys & Girls:
Academically Competive, Beachy Cool, Trendy Nights – Student life at UCLA exemplifies what one would expect of student life in sunny southern California. Many students thrive in the intensely competitive academic environment, which is offset by the beachy cool of California and the trendiness of Los Angeles.

Diverse in Comparison but Not Enough. Because UCLA is located in a city as diverse as Los Angeles, students of every background are represented in one way or another. However, when these numbers are compared to the greater Los Angeles area and California as a whole, distinct groups are still underrepresented. Despite the wide range of student types, a number of students don't necessarily understand the backgrounds of these diverse groups.

The campus police and Community Service Officers are pretty laid back and easy to get along with. They don't go out of their ways to get students in trouble; they act more as backup for the RAs. The RAs, on the other hand, are very strict in the dorms and will write you up for your offense, no matter how friendly you are with them.

Championships Don't Equal Support – Though UCLA leads the nation in the most national championships, this doesn't translate to overwhelming support. There are pretty high turn-outs for football and men's basketball games, but it's rare to find the bleachers full at water polo matches. One of the most overlooked sports is baseball, even though the field is relatively easy to access from campus.

Residence Halls – I lived in Sproul Hall my first year, and it was great. Unlike suites or plazas, halls have laundry machines on every floor. Halls are also great for socializing because people are always moving around in the hallways. If you leave your door open, someone is bound to pop in and say hi. The only downside is that the rooms themselves are smaller than rooms in other buildings, but you hardly spend any time in your room anyway.

There are so many different class options as well as so many different groups and programs one can join. There's always something going on on campus and always a huge variety of events being held.

During summer and fall, it can get quite hot and there is always a lot of walking to be done on campus, so walking at these times of the year is not always enjoyable, but there are still places to go with air-conditioning and for shade to get out of the hear. During winter and spring there can be a lot of rain, but there are plenty of places to seek cover.

There are multiple computer labs with easy access, and students may use them during specific hours for free. There is wireless Internet everywhere with fast speed and very reliable connection.

The parking around the UCLA area always seems to be crowded, and the apartments near the school are also next to frat row. The apartments that I have visited are alright. They are mostly fairly priced but each apartment varies. I have seen apartments that are as close as across the street from UCLA and as far as a car ride. It varies immensely.

UCLA is revered for its food. Whenever my friends from other UC campuses visit, they always love the food on the UCLA campus, and I always seem to run out of swipes. Eventually, you do miss home food, but UCLA has many options. They just opened an Italian-themed cafe with gelato, paninis, and other goodies. The dining halls are great and most have a cultural variety.

UCLA has everything a college campus needs. Within a bus ride, you have the beach, the Grove (with a farmer's market and possible celebrity sightings), malls, boutiques, and concerts. The campus is always abuzz and there is never a dull moment. It's relatively safe because it is in the Westwood area and also because of UCPD. The atmosphere is extremely inviting. I have yet to met a person who wasn't friendly!

Good and Useful! Students are able to use the athletic center easily, and there are lots of facilities offered for students. The atmosphere of the campus is excellent.

The prices are ridiculous and availability is bad, as well. I don't think the parking is student-mindful at all. They need to change the prices and the system more.

It is wonderful. There's a lot of variety. The food is also very delicious. One flaw is the price, however. Since the restaurants are located in a vibrant college town, their prices seem to be a bit more inflated than they should be.

The community here is incredibly diverse. Not only in terms of its international student body, but UCLA managed to put together an atmosphere that provides a comfortable environment for any person, any idea, and any view, allowing everyone to mix and empower the students to have a wider perspective of the world.

Greeks have parties and their own social events. The school is very diverse in its events, so if you choose, you can go to a Greek event or an apartment event. The frat parties are fun but not necessary to have a good time.

Good Food – The dining is very good, but you will get tired of the meals after a while.

Computer Labs Are Usually Available – Computers are usually available and only get crowded during finals and midterms. There are also laptops available for check out.

UCLA is the best school ever. I love it here. There's a great balance of social and academic life. I'm so glad I chose to come here-it's made my college experience memorable.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
