It's good food that we want to eat, but it is not exactly healthy.

Guys & Girls:
UCLA girls are very attractive. Guys, I would say, are attractive, too. Overall, it's a great school to meet people, and the weather allows for everyone to show off a little skin.

Asians and Whites – It has been called the University of Caucasians Lost among Asians. But in reality, there is a good mix of races and sexual orientation. I mean, it is LA.

Westwood is a few steps away, and you can bus almost anywhere. I mean come on, it's Los Angeles!!

Drugs and Alcohol Not So Visible – The drug and alcohol scene doesn't really exist at UCLA, unless you go looking for it. Sure, there are parties that have drugs and alcohol, but most of them are off campus and if you want to stay completely away from them, it is very easy.

There Is No Shortage of Sports Events – Sporting events, except for football and men's basketball, are completely free for students, and there is an incredible amount of school spirit for all sports.

Labs Are Always Available – Computer labs at UCLA are always available, especially on the residential hill. This is very convenient. The UCLA library also has laptops available for checkout. Internet speed is fast, but not all locations of the school have wireless.

UCLA parking is very, very expensive, and space is limited. I had to park far away for free parking. However, they do have free buses from other areas that will take you directly to the school.

Not Strict – You can feel pretty much free to do anything you want that doesn't negatively affect the experience of others.

Great School – UCLA offers an amazing array of knowledgeable professors that catered to their student's needs.

Cost Too Much – Maybe because the campus is connected to Westwood, Bel Air, and Beverly Hills, but the dorms and apartments cost too much.

Convenient Close, and Affordable – There are a lot of nearby restaurants and supermarkets.

Health & Safety:
Safe at All Hours of the Day – It's safe to be on campus late for tutoring or something because there is always someone around, and if you need help walking somewhere there is a number you can call and someone will come and walk you wherever you need to go.

There are so many programs for anything you want to do at UCLA, and it's in LA, so you have access to urban neighborhoods if you want to do urban planning. There's Hollywood if you want to do movies, there are museums if you want to do art, and our medical center is ranked third in the nation. There are so many opportunities to do anything.

There are times when it rains (of course) and days when it's super hot, but overall the weather is fantastic, especially in spring and fall. It makes it so nice to be outside!

The Libraries Are Great – I love going to any library on campus. There's always something neat hidden in every building, and there's a library for everything from music to LGBT studies.

The cost is astronomical. Parking passes are limited and even if you get one, you are not guaranteed a spot. Parking without a pass is unheard of. The off-campus parking is very limited and usually two-hour. Lots of tickets are given. If you are lucky enough to live near public transportation, you should use it if at all possible.

The school does a good job of providing housing, although the cost is outrageous. Your choice of housing, although varied, is not guaranteed, and the rooms with three students are extremely cramped and not conducive to studying.

The school has a large bookstore with everything from clothing to groceries, and it's excellent. There are shopping areas within walking distance from the school with a variety of stores and restaurants.

Living in a Closet – Dorm chambers are really small for a triple, but you get used to it. It's probably worse for the girls. Bathrooms are what you would expect from a communal bathroom-not too dirty but not the most sanitary places.

Off-campus food is pretty good. You can find sushi, Italian, and Asian food all in Westwood for pretty affordable prices.

Food Is Great – It's ranked second in the nation, so the food at UCLA is terrific. They always mix it up so you don't get bored, and it always tastes great. You'll find everything from pizza to burgers to rice dishes and pasta. There are also a lot of pastries and ice cream for dessert.
Recent Alumnus 2010-06-15T05:27:31Z
Big Blue Buses Are Great – A bike at UCLA is nice if you don't mind going up the hills. Everything is within walking distance, though. Buses take you anywhere from Westwood to Santa Monica for only a quarter if you show your BruinCard.
Recent Alumnus 2010-06-15T05:26:09Z
Be Smart About It – Parties at UCLA are the norm. Drinking in the dorms must be quiet; otherwise, someone will rat you out to the RA and you will be written up. The consequences are not too harsh for the first time, but subsequent write-ups could lead to the loss of housing or expulsion at worst. If you want to party safe, there are always apartments and frat houses.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt in danger when walking around UCLA. Even outside of campus, namely Westwood, feels safe. Parties that get too rowdy will get the security on your doorstep.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
