Labs on Campus – There are a lot of computer labs on campus. MacBooks can be checked out in the libraries, and there are labs for statistics classes filled with iMacs. Wireless access is almost everywhere on campus. Speed is fast and good. It is easier to bring your personal laptops to class if you require it.

Science Majors – Being a science major at UCLA is very competitive. The quarter system makes it very difficult to take a heavy course load. Sometimes it will take more than the required four years to complete a science major. Because of heavy budget cuts in California, a lot of classes are cut out each quarter. Due to this, students have a small chance of getting into required classes needed for graduation. It's not that difficult to find internships on campus for science majors because UCLA is a research institute.

There's a good variety of races here on campus, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't more Asian Americans than anything else. There are many groups for people of almost any ethnicity to join.

Westwood's Got Some Good Options. I haven't been to all of them, but Westwood, which is a short walk toward South campus, has some delicious restaurants and great cafes. Peet's coffee, Coffee Bean, and Starbucks are all located in Westwood Village, and there's a BJ's where you can score a delicious pizooki (pizza cookie).

After a Couple Quarters Go for the Cafe. The food's not too bad, but after awhile, all the dining hall stuff begins to taste mildly similar. Thankfully, there's an on-campus café called Bruin Café where you can get a semi-decent tea latte and pastry. It's not really maximizing your meal swipe's value, but it's more satisfying most often. The other cafés on campus have good food, but it's all pretty greasy. I think I'd prefer to buy my own food next year.

Off Campus – I am not familiar with off-campus housing, but my roommates are searching for an apartment. The problem is that they are too expensive, which has caused them to have more people to reduce the price. Plus, there is a lack of parking.

Health & Safety:
Too Large a Campus – One occurring problem here is that our school statue gets vandalized once every two months. The campus has lights everywhere, but there is crime. The other problem is that recently there has been a spike in the number of reports of students getting assaulted close to the campus. There needs to be more security at key posts.

The computers closest to me are in Covel Commons, which has more than 20 computers. The computers recently had an upgrade to Windows 7 with faster speed. The best part is that each student is given $5 of printing credit at the start of the school year. There is a small fee for printing after that, but with double-sided printing I can print an entire lecture for less than 20 cents.

The weather in LA is the best-it's almost always sunny, and when it's winter, it doesn't get too cold.

Sports Are Division I – There are many types of sports like football, baseball, soccer, track and field, tennis, softball, and many more that are top-notch.

There Are a Variety of Majors I'd Like to Learn About. At UCLA, the campus is huge, and it is very clean and green for its size. The bookstore is fairly huge, and the food court is awesome. It isn't a really diverse school, but I'd be a person who is willing to change that.

There is a lot to do on and outside of the campus. Los Angeles is a very big city with so many things for anyone to do.

There's a great social life, and it's so close to everything. It's a very clean campus, plus great food.

It's impossible to find a parking space if you don't have a permit.

Hall Life Is a Lot More Social – I moved from a private plaza into a hall midway through my second quarter, and it was a great decision. My old plaza was very anti-social and people didn't get along as well as they do in a residence hall.

The Overused Substance – Although there have been incidents where students have occasionally been over-drinking, many of them have made it clear they have no limit.

Great Help! The academics offered here are a great opportunity for many of the students. Although the campus may be small, there is great help given by many of the teachers. Our teachers constantly offer after-school programs to enrich students' studies in school. This school has opened many doors for me in terms of academics. The work is, at times, difficult, but the help given to us has helped along the way.

UCLA is a very diverse little world in so many ways. Dozens of top-notch sports teams, a really varied student body, AMAZING food of all types, and well-balanced people are my highlights.

Greeks Run the Social Scene – Greeks are running the show here, though the University has been cracking down. Greeks are nice, but if you're not in a house, you can't have a ton of fun.

No Boredom! There's truly something for everyone here. Younger students hang out at frats or party in dorms, and upperclassmen go to the zillions of bars in LA. It's the perfect social setup. Once you get tired of a certain scene, there's always a new venue to try out. I can't imagine getting bored.

Bus is cheap but takes forever – There is a nice bus system that's cheap, but the buses take forever and are kind of sketchy.

Guys & Girls:
Hot, down-to-earth, and smart – Guys and girls here are from California, so you know they're hot. However, they're also very down-to-earth and actually get in for being smart.

Restrictions but Safe – Apartments are treated like dorms and are very convenient. The problem is that there are a lot of restrictions, much like in the dorms. All off-campus housing is very safe.

Not Strict – There are lots of cops in Westwood but very few around campus, which is the way I like it. Residence halls tend to be crowded, so it's easy to get in trouble for noise or drinking. However, the punishments aren't tough at all-usually a couple hours of bathroom duty.

Pricey but Parking – Parking comes with many off-campus places, so that's a huge plus. Landlords seem to be mostly fair and nice. Expenses run high, though.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
