College Prowler Take
The facilities of UCLA follow the true UC spirit—Under Construction. The Wooden Center, the athletic gymnasium, is a true powerhouse with a weight room, three basketball courts, two volleyball courts, numerous racquetball courts, a rock climbing wall, a cardiovascular area, and private rooms that offer lessons in everything from martial arts to hip hop dance, and dance aerobics. Now that the renovation has subsided, the Wooden Center has even more aerobic rooms and a newly-installed locker room facility. The center is home to some physical, extreme pick-up basketball, especially in the summer when the professionals come to play. Some of the celebrities that enjoy UCLA’s facilities enough to come back are Master P and Magic Johnson who both play pickup basketball from time to time in the summer. The Wooden Center also offers an array of classes that span the interests of every undergraduate for a student price of around $30. The classes usually meet twice a week and last 10 weeks. Also worth looking into are the aquatic classes offered at the marina. The marina is about a 25-minute drive from the campus, but carpooling is available and the prices for these classes—rowing, scuba diving, and sailing—are competitive.

UCLA has great facilities that cater to every student's needs. The gym has all the cardio and weight-lifting equipment you could ask for and a rock wall! There are plenty of libraries on campus, so finding the "perfect" place to study is simple. I really like all the coffeeshops on campus and the outside seating because they are conducive to hanging out and studying.

The facilities are all relatively new—except for a few original buildings—and well maintained. I find it easy to get involved in recreational sports, study in the libraries, and find anything else I need because of the great condition of the facilities on campus.

The facilities are decent. The gym...
The facilities are decent. The gym is a little bit small for the size of the student body, though. It expands in size and quality every year, though. |
FactsWhat To Do on Campus
Between classes, you can soak up sun, grab some chow, sculpt a stellar body at the gym, or play a round of pool without walking more than one mile.
Favorite Things To Do
Free movie screenings are always full. The pre-screenings at UCLA are always packed regardless of how a movie is going to do at the box office. There are also events cooked up, from speakers to plays, at the North Campus Auditorium going on each week. Look for the cultural shows to really build momentum towards the end of the year when the squads get all their practice in. Also, everyday there is a show presented in Ackerman Square from 12 p.m.–1 p.m.
Bowling on Campus
