College Prowler Take

An off-campus restaurant jaunt is always in order for students with a little more time and money to spend. For the lunch crowd, a quick step to Damon and Pythias will produce a healthy and incredibly delicious meal for around $10. The meals here are simply staggering, and the steak sandwich with blue cheese dressing is heavenly, and it’s only $8.75. Trying a soup is a can’t-miss proposition, and the soups are less at $7. Sepi’s, a cheaper option, offers up a great submarine sandwich that’s sure to leave an impression. Each of the subs here are named after UCLA Bruin greats such as John Wooden, Bill Walton, or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The price here runs about $7 per sub. The best-priced subs in town can be found at Subbies Roll Inn Sandwich; it’s $2.75 for a six-inch sub. The toppings are nothing to rave about, but the prices certainly are. Roll In has been shut down twice over the last five years for health violations, but poor college students tend to overlook such things.

Los Angeles has every type of food imaginable, and most of it is close to Westwood. While at UCLA, make sure to take advantage of the plethora of food options around you. It will be an educational and culinary experience that your stomach will surely thank you for!

Having Westwood within walking distance is awesome. It has a Chipotle, BJ's, Chili's, Subway, Quiznos, Pinkberry, Red Mango, and Corner Bakery—a bunch of great places within a decent price range!

There are fantastic restaurants around UCLA. Have you ever heard of Westwood Village? Well, UCLA is famous for it, and every other university tries to copy our setup. There is everything you could ever want there—stores, food, movies, and coffeeshops.

Everything in Westwood is actually...

Everything in Westwood is actually fairly expensive. There are a bunch of good sushi places. The dorm food is so good I rarely eat out, though.

The food in Westwood is good, but I don’t particularly like the Olive Garden. In-N-Out’s always good when you can’t decide where to go. There’s also this cookie store close by called Diddy Riese’s. It’s only a quarter for each cookie and a dollar for an ice cream sandwich. It’s a fraction of what they charge at Mrs. Fields, and they taste just as good. You’ll definitely have to try it.
