Parking Permits
You must apply for a permit by the fifth week of the preceding quarter. This deadline is strictly enforced. Parking permits are granted on a points system. Your points vary depending on your distance from school, whether or not you have a job, if you are going to carpool, and how far away your job is from campus.
College Prowler Take
At UCLA, parking can only be garnered if you apply by week six of the previous quarter, and even then, there are no guarantees. The passes are awarded via a point system based on questions such as how far you live and work from campus. The only problem is that it seems like everyone lies on the forms. Apparently it is possible to live in central California while working in San Diego and still attend UCLA. Knowing these facts, good luck trying to get a parking pass. If you can’t get parking, do yourself a favor and park your car down the road and cruise in on the Big Blue Bus, at least it’s free!
Parking is extremely difficult here. If you’re commuting from off campus, try for the big points in the questionnaire like carpooling. Anyone can buy a night parking pass, which is good everyday after 4 p.m. and all weekend for $90. Even still, the fact that a student cannot find parking at his or her own school is a major disgrace. Especially when you consider that the paid parking on campus is $7, and after 8 a.m., you have to park in the lot off campus. Parking on campus is limited to two hours at the meters, and good luck trying to find a meter at any time during the day. UCLA also loses major points for starting the free parking time on campus at 9 p.m. Unfortunately, these free spaces are only effective for extracurricular activities. Really, what did you expect from a school in Los Angeles?

Campus parking is bad. There are multiple parking lots, but they're expensive. Freshmen can bring a car, but getting a permit is unlikely.

Most people don't get parking...
Most people don't get parking unless there's a genuine need, like for an off-campus job or for commuter students. Otherwise, parking is a real pain. Freshmen probably won't get parking unless they join an organization that has special needs for it or get it from a special qualification.

Parking is impossible for freshmen...
Parking is impossible for freshmen and sophomores. You can not live on campus and have parking. And, there is no street parking. If you live off campus, getting a parking permit is very simple. Once you get an apartment, you'll be able to have your car there.

Parking on campus is a pain. If you live in the dorms, it’s most likely that you will not get a parking permit on campus, which means you will have to buy it off someone, or park somewhere off campus. |

Good luck getting parking. They raised daily parking rates to over seven dollars a day! Avoid commuting to school, if possible. However, the Big Blue Bus is free for UCLA students with the swipe of a Bruin Card. |

Best Places to Find a Parking Spot
In the evenings, park down on Westholme Drive, in the morning and early afternoon, metered parking on North Campus and in Lot 6 are your best bets, but a long shot at that. You’re better off buying parking at Lot 32 and riding the shuttle directly
into campus.
Good Luck Getting a Parking Spot Here!
You will never find paid day parking on campus after 8 a.m.
