In terms of quality, popular opinion ranks UCR campus dining at barely above average. The most common complaints are poor service—due to the majority of workers being students—and lack of vegetarian/healthy/kosher options. The restaurants in the HUB are easily the most preferred choices on campus, as they offer a great variety of food, such as Italian, Chinese, Mexican, and Japanese. Generally, it is accepted that the HUB and University Village food tends to be superior to that which is served in the residence hall cafeterias. Despite budget cuts, there is a remaining effort to improve the food and options while still keeping costs down. The numerous convenience stores are always useful for those on the go or on a budget, and “Bear Bucks” can be used anywhere on campus or even some places off campus. Dining Dollars and meal plans are primarily for residence hall locations, but they can also be used at the HUB. However, different meal plans have different amounts of Dining Dollars, which limit students’ choices.

Fortunately, dining options continue to improve. A new service gives students the opportunity to instantly rate any restaurant area and any meal at any time by texting their opinion to a UCR Dining phone system or via a tweet on their Twitter account (@UCRDining). Overall, though, students appreciate the availability and variety of food that UCR offers.

On Campus Restaurants and Dining Hall Food

I am vegatarian, so I have actually been impresed how in every on-campus restaurant there is a good vegatarian option. In the dining hall everyday they make a vegitarian option, and i dont mean a salad. They actually make sot meat, soy chicken and tofu plate which are not bad at all. The food usually ranges from pasta,mexican food,asian food,burgers, or pizza. And the drinking options are usually soda. I wish there was more natural juices. Overal i have been impressed by the campus food.

Dining

There are a couple of places you can eat on campus. Theres the dorms and on campus (HUB, The Barn, Bytes, Latitude). After a while the food can get boring, but when you need something quick to eat between classes, it's not too bad.

Pricey

Tuition continues to increase, making going to school pricier then ever. The food on campus are expensive and not only that, are given in small portions.
