College Prowler Take

Overall, students seem to think the food options on campus are decent. The Commons has a great variety of food, ranging from Italian to Chinese to Mexican to vegetarian. Also, a Subway-like restaurant is available on campus. Generally, food in the Commons and other locations around campus tends to be better than that served in the residence hall cafeterias. The major complaint about the cafeteria food is that it is greasy, and it sometimes seems that the workers are not trained very well or just do not care. But, overall, students do appreciate the variety the cafeteria has.

As UCR continues to grow, so do the campus dining options. Dining services constantly takes suggestions from students and works toward improving the food and options while keeping costs down. Although the cafeteria food is constantly improving every year and has great variety, it can get tiresome for homesick students wanting a good meal. When students get sick of the food at the residence hall cafeteria, they can also use their “dining dollars” at the Commons, including Panda Express. However, different meal plans have different amounts of “dining dollars,” which limits students options. Meal plans are constantly changing, so make sure you have a good mix of meals and “dining dollars.”

The places on campus are pretty decent. The dining halls could be better, but you will find things that you like, and you wont starve. In our Commons, we have Panda Express, which is pretty popular, and places to get sandwiches and pizza—the usual.

I think it is getting better with the new Commons. It's a nice place to kick back or wait for your classes. I'm not big on the campus food, but I have had worse. I tend to drive southbound on the 91 freeway for good food.

It's alright. I wish there was more selection and better quality. The most decent spot is Panda Express, and that's not even that great. The dining halls in the dorm suck. The food is very bad.

The food on campus sucks. The best thing is probably Panda Express and that's not very good. There are no simple burger joints or Subways or anything.

The food is overpriced, but there is some variation—pizza, pasta, sushi, Panda Express, sandwiches, Mexican, and salads. The pizza is definitely the best deal pricewise, but there can often be long lines at lunchtime.
