Aberdeen-Inverness (A-I) and Lothian are known for being the most social dorms. Pentland Hills is the newest housing option and provide the most privacy for students. However, the cost is higher, but you get the luxuries Pentland Hills has to offerr. Living in the dorms is highly encouraged for freshmen because it is an excellent way to meet people and get to know them on a personal level. Also, the dorms provide students an avenue to quickly infuse themselves into campus culture. each residence hall has its own purpose. If you are looking forward to getting to know a ton of people, A-I or Lothian residence halls would be the best choice for you. Although there is not much privacy and sometimes too much activity and distraction, you get to know more people living in one of these two places. Although the bathrooms are designated for females and males, they often become coed because of pure laziness on the part of the students. However, unlike most off-campus apartments, all of these residence halls include both group, individual, and silent study rooms for students to utilize. If you enjoy your privacy and are more comfortable interacting with a smaller group of people, Pentland Hills is definitely the place for you. As far as on-campus apartments go, most students recommend staying away from Bannockburn if at all possible. Although it is the cheapest and closest when compared to the other on-campus apartment complexes, it’s also known as dirty, old, and rundown. It is the most unsafe of all the on-campus apartments due to lack of lighting, security gates, and outside entrances. The Plaza is also older, but it is known to be a little nicer. Stonehaven is newer and better and priced in the middle. International Village is the newest and nicest by far of all the on-campus apartments and has a feel similar to Pentland Hills—luxurious and hotel-like.

I live in A-I. There is also Lothian (East and West) and Pentland Hills. A-I is the traditional dorm, the oldest one on campus. Pentland Hills is the newest one. I really like A-I because of its 10-foot ceilings, and that the doors can be kept open, unlike the others. |

If you don’t know anyone, the dorms are a great place to meet people, but most people don’t live in them for more than a year. |
