College Prowler Take
The drug scene on campus is nearly invisible thanks to security personnel. However, much like at any college campus, there are those who partake in drugs, but it usually takes place in the privacy of their own homes and not on campus. It seems that the majority of people do not do drugs, but where there is a will, there is a way to find them. The drug of choice seems to be marijuana. Many freshmen in the residence halls venture out around the dorms to use drugs, which is dangerous because a student’s residential life at UCR can affect their academic transcript, so beware of the consequences.
If doing drugs is your thing, you may have a tough time obtaining them at UCR, but you can probably get ahold of them, just like any place else. Most students who do drugs generally keep their habits to themselves at Riverside. Occasionally, however, you’ll run into some potheads or some pill poppers at parties around campus. Overall, drugs are easy to avoid at Riverside and are by no means pervasive. Likewise, if you really want to obtain them, you can probably do so, just be sure to do so in a low-key manner.

They are really easy to stay away from here at Riverside, so you really have nothing to worry about. |

The drug scene was bigger when I was a freshman, but it has mellowed a bit. I think that the majority of the students at UCR have experimented. |

I only know of the drug scene because of a few hallmates I have that are into that. They go far away from campus, and they don’t come back until the effects have worn off, because the cops and security on and around campus can easily see you acting differently. I have yet to see anyone using on campus, so I know I’m safe. |

It’s always there if you really want it, but I wouldn’t say that it’s pervasive. People aren’t selling and using drugs out in the open or anything. |
