The campus party scene usually takes place at the end of the week and is mainly controlled by the fraternities and sororities, though it's not unheard of for a bash to be thrown in the dorms or someone's house. Locally, the bars and clubs are readily close at hand, especially for those who have a car. That is not to say that walking or cycling is out of the question, but the main areas of nightlife are few and far between, and can make for a rather long trek. It is recommended to travel in groups when touring the bars and clubs, not only to have a designated driver, but certain areas can be a bit unsavory. Underage students typically are restricted to shopping centers and movie theaters if they are unable to resist the temptation to drink with older student friends.
Outside of Riverside, weekend fun can be found in the relatively nearby Los Angeles, Orange County, or even to San Diego. The beaches and mountains are also easily accessible for the more adventurous party-goer or thrill-seeker.

Nightlife
Riverside isn't a well-developed metropolis like the surrounding cities of some other campuses. There are things to do, but most involve Greek life or simply food options

Night Life
Your best bet is to get plugged into an organization, fraternity, or sorority if you want to have a decent night life. There are hooka lounges, and clubs around the University, but those get boring very quickly.

Most people look for nightlife outside of Riverside. Sevilla’s is known as a good dance club, especially for salsa dancing.

College Prowler guides are in the hands of students throughout the entire process. Because you can't make student-written guides without the students, we have students at each campus who write, edit, and survey their peers for every guide that we publish.
