College Prowler Take
Off-campus apartments are usually much cheaper than on-campus housing. However, the newer, nicer, and more luxurious living arrangements, such as Grand Marc Apartments, are costly. Students willing to go a little further from campus will find cheaper housing, but there are plenty of reasonable opportunities for housing closer—within walking distance of the campus or within distance of the Highlander Hauler bus route.
Most of the apartments are relatively decent, but there are a few that are rundown and old. There are countless stories of break-ins and property that has been stolen from apartments. When looking for a place to live, it is best to talk to friends who live in apartments or have friends who live in apartments to find out the best and worst places, along with the best and worst deals. Be aware that while some apartment complexes have excellent management and are well kept, others have horrible management that does not care about its tenants. In these cases, the minimum necessary to stay in business and on the right side of the law is done for tenants. The bottom line is to be on the lookout and be ready to listen to the stories that friends and acquaintances share about various places. Exchanging information is the best way to learn about apartments and living options around campus.

Most students move in and out...
Most students move in and out during the summer, opening up more spaces for people that want an apartment. If the apartment is far from campus, you can always take the bus to school. The only downfall is having late classes when the bus does not operate. |

Living off campus is easy as pie, much more cost efficient, and totally worth it. Life away from campus means privacy and style, if you work it right. |

Let me tell you about off-campus...
Let me tell you about off-campus housing. There is so much off-campus housing that you won’t believe it! Some are apartments, some are condos, and some are ‘private student housing’ facilities. I live off campus at a place called the Grand Marc, and it is amazing! So far, it has made my freshman year an awesome experience! It’s private student housing, right off campus. |
