College Prowler Take
AOL Travel magazine once named San Diego the No. 1 city for finding beautiful people. This statistic unfortunately is not true for UCSD. Students are generally disappointed with the physical attributes of the opposite sex. They have dreams of coming to college and living in the midst of a campus filled with beautiful people, but these dreams come to a nightmarish end once students step foot on campus. With the beach minutes away and an emphasis on fitness, UCSD students are known to be surprisingly unattractive or lacking in social skills. UCSD students usually blame the pressures of studying and getting good grades for the lack of attractive girls and guys on campus. However, don’t move to San Diego expecting to spend a lonely and celibate four years while locked in your room studying. San Diego State is only minutes away and is infamous for its hot girls and guys and wild parties. There are also students who say there are attractive people all over UCSD and those who disagree are just being picky. Overall, most people are friendly, outgoing, laid-back, and in shape. It is easy to make friends and have good relationships. You just might have to look a little harder to find that perfect person with beauty and brains. Students Speak Out

A cutie isn't going to fall into your lap magically (unless you're really so lucky as all that), but if you put enough effort into it, the more people you meet, the more cuties you meet. Fortunately, most of the cuties are also putting themselves out there and not hiding behind a biology book in the furthermost corner of their single bedrooms.

People are nice. There are hot people and those that aren’t. Pretty much anyone you find will be intelligent, which is always a plus. A lot of people here ride bikes and surf and go to the beach, so they are active. You just have to decide for yourself. |
FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - Free exams are available for both men and women at the Student Health Center. Birth control pills, the patch, or other forms of birth control are available for $10 a month, as well as the morning-after pill.
Social Scene
Students do most of their partying off campus, especially after their freshman year. The social scene is very laid-back, and people usually stick with their friends. Once students turn 21, the social scene moves from house parties to the bars in Pacific Beach. The bars are very popular, especially on the weekends, and many students go out with big groups of friends to have a fun night.
Hookups or Relationships?
The question of hookups or relationships depends entirely on the individual. While there are a large number of students in relationships, many find themselves too busy with studying, going to class, and working to have a relationship. For them, a hookup at a bar or party one night is all they're looking for. Others want a stable relationship; it all depends on the person.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
If you are looking to meet lots of people, Tijuana is your best bet. As soon as UCSD students cross the border and find themselves in Mexico, they seem to lose all of their inhibitions. Everyone goes to Mexico on the pretense of getting drunk, dancing, meeting new people, and having a fun night.
Dress Code
UCSD is very casual. Students live in sweatshirts, jeans, and flip-flops.
