There are hardly any complaints on campus about the weather in San Diego. It is usually wonderful. The winters are mild, and there is hardly any rain. Fall, spring, and summer are warm and sunny. This can lead to quite a shock when students leave San Diego after being spoiled by the great weather for the last four or five years.
The worst month weather-wise in San Diego is June, when the June Gloom descends over the coast, and it is cloudy, chilly, and gloomy for most of the month. However, the wonderful weather the rest of the year makes up for one gloomy month. UCSD students can be found at the beach in January and February or in July and August. The consistently nice weather makes it easy for students to plan ahead, as they never need anything warmer than a sweatshirt. UCSD is so close to the coast that even in the summer months it never gets too warm. Basically, the weather is perfect!
