Gay Pride
Although the LGBT scene is not big on campus, tolerance is. The campus has a Resource Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity located inside the SRB.
Political Activity
Overall, students tend to be liberal—this is a California college campus, after all. The student Republican, Democrat, Liberal, and Green groups are vocal and very active on campus. In the past, peace marches and walkouts have taken place, and student activism continues to be an important issue for Gauchos.
Economic Status
The student population generally consists of Caucasian students who fall between upper-middle class to the elite. However, UCSB students range in economic status, and because of this, students from all economic backgrounds can feel comfortable on campus.
Most Common Religions
Christianity, Judaism, and Catholicism are the top three religions that students identify with on campus.
Minority Clubs on Campus
There are many minority clubs on campus, from American Indian Student Association (AISA) to the Thai Student Union (TSU). You name it—there's probably a club for it.
