Grads Entering Job MarketAdvice
- Go to the Career Services Web site, which will direct you to monstertrak.com. Monstertrak has the most up-to-date and local internships—exactly what you need while you are still in school. The other main way to find out about internship and job opportunities is to sign-up for your department’s listserv. A lot of businesses will purposely contact the department that they want applicants to come from. Do not be afraid to open the Santa Barbara phone book, find the best local place that does what you want to do, and keep calling them. Businesses around here are used to students coming to them and are open to student employees. Be persistent. Although peer-career counselors can help with some information, try to make an appointment with a professional career counselor that has specific knowledge about your major and/or career field.
