I think that the drug use at UCF is very small. We just recently became a smoke free campus, so any detection of smoke will go noticed.

Orlando is an awesome town with a lot to do. We have the college, and many different types of nightlife around here, and just 20 minutes away you can go to theme parks, shopping malls, and several different museums.

There are plenty of choices for off-campus housing, but none of them are really that great. In August I moved into a 4/4 for a little under $600 a month, which is a great price, but the apartments aren't that great. They do a terrible job matching you with your roommates. Since here we have had 2 fires, I never heard the alarms. The ground level apartments were getting broken into, and some guy "fell" off the 4th floor balcony of an apartment and none ever heard anything about it. My roommate saw it and told me what happened. Me and my roommates have both been followed in the parking garage, and once I had to call the police and it took them over an hour to show up. But it's Orlando, and you'll have problems any where you go. The nice part is that I am literally right across the street from the school, so I can walk, and they do try to do events and such for the tenants.

The UCF campus is generally very strict because they like to ensure their students and staffs safety. They are especially strict about drinking on campus, parking, and J-walking. They are strict about smoking because UCF is now a smoke free campus. They are strict about J-walking because someone died J-walking on campus a few years ago and they want to make sure no one puts themselves in avoidable danger.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on the UCF campus during the day. At night, I do not see as many police officers and security around, but I trust that my school has proved me with a safe environment.

I have heard stories of people feeling unsafe and UCF disassociating with housing for periods of time due to their terrible reputations for safety. There have been some improvements lately though, and there is an excellent alert system in place for breaches of safety. The housing is very close to convenience stores, school, and the bus, but there is not a lot of availability and you need a co-signer even if you have good credit on your own.

There is usually something going on downtown for the older crowd, particularly a lot of shows and events. On campus there is something going on literally every day and night and there are a lot of student organizations. Everyone seems friendly, they welcome you to join in games they are playing on campus if you would like, and the campus is about 45 minutes away from the wonderful world of disney! Who could be unhappy at the happiest place on earth?

I have had occasional problems with printing, but they were fixed right away by the staff. Overall the computers are very large and easy to use, particularly in the study rooms.

The weather is mostly beautiful because we are in Florida! The beach is not very close, but there are a ton of pools, especially on campus and it is usually sunny and warm outside. Perfect for tanning or studying outside on the grass. Campus is well-groomed and beautiful, so it is fun too.

The shuttles run to apartment complexes within a certain radius and they operate fairly smoothly. If you live outside that radius, it's easiest to travel by car, though parking can be annoying depending on the time of day. If you live on campus, you will have to walk a lot because it's a very large campus. There's now a ZipCar service where students can use special cars to get around when they want, but I've never used it so I don't know much about it. I recommend a bicycle or a skateboard to get around campus.

Univerity of Central Florida has a rediculous variety of off-campus housing. All of the campus-affiliated housing is amazing. In my opinion, it is like staying in a hotel. You have your own privacy, yet you also have the convenience of being able to walk to school nd having the securiy of living on campus.

Greek life is not just there for parties but they also do philanthropies and give back to the community through fundraisers and volunteering. They take their grades seriously and they have a sense of community in which they all help eachother.

it's bad to find a parking at ucf. pretty have to get to the school an hour before class starts in order to find parking.

There are a wide variety of food options on campus. There are two dining halls, Marketplace and Knightro's that offer a variety of food choices, including both healthy and comfort food. From what I have been told and from my experience, UCFs Dining Halls are some of the best and cleanest. The food almost always tastes delicious and the workers are extremely friendly. The only downfall about the meal plan is that is is quite expensive and when they run out of food at the end of the semester you feel you have wasted your money. If you do not have a meal plan then you can choose from options such as the BK Whopper Bar (one of the few in the nation!), two subways, a neighborhood grill and many other choices! UCF accommodates to all forms of payments, including Knights Cash which is uploaded on your student ID

For how big the school is, you don't find that many students attending the sports and other games. There are however many options you could find. There are tons of club sports available and pretty much every sport has a team that practices. The levels go, NCAA > Club > IM.

UCF definitely offers a wide variety of classes. Professors are more than accomdating when you need help outside of class hours. All around, UCF students definitely benefit from having a well rounded faculty.

I didn't have any trouble getting my awards posted to my account. I didn't qualify for any financial aid, but I did have scholarships that were very timely posted to my account each semester.

Campus housing is a solid B. UCF offers several different price ranges for campus housing. You definitely "get what you pay for" in your dorm choices.

Orlando is a huge city with so much to offer. The night life by UCF isn't as good as downtown, but if you're willing to make the 15 minute trip to the heart of Orlando, you won't regret it!
