I do not own a car so I don't have much experience parking, but what I have heard is that it is a nightmare to find spots and that you must arrive early on campus to make sure you can make it to class on time.

The deciding factor on attending UCF was because it offered a variety of opportunities for my major, Hospitality Management. I would love to work at a hotel and eventually become a general manager. I have already gotten opportunities to shadow for several hotels, and once I am a junior and senior I can begin to intern for hotels. The Rosen College of Hospitality is very helpful, they send students internship opportunities and have many connections with prominent businesses in Orlando. I am very confident that I will be able to find a job in my field.

I don't tend to participate in many of the nightlife around UCF.

Price varies greatly depending on what you're looking for. Overall you can find a pretty decent apartment for a good price. A majority of the apartment complexes have 24 hour courtesy officers. Parking can sometimes be a hassle depending on the area. There is a lot right near UCF which is really convenient.

As an out of state student, the cost for my attendance is significantly higher. I was able to get some financial aid but I ended up paying for a majority of this semester with a private loan. Overall the financial aid staff was pretty helpful and they answered all of my questions.

UCF just became a smoke free campus. It's a pretty good idea but the enforcement is limited. There are no repercussions if someone is caught smoking. UCF provides an active student based community calendar. The police force is also very attentive and helpful.
College Senior 2012-11-30T05:23:02Z
The bus system is a waste of UCF equity and cash, only about 1/17th of the student body uses the buses and the college is spending 15 Million a year just on this.
Parking is horrid anytime from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM as there are more cars than parking spots for faculty, commuters, and on campus residents.
All the parking garages need to be tripled in size. I've been commuting there for over a year and it gets worse with each passing semester.
I would like to see a type of tram/rail system rather than the current bus system for college students and faculty.

Guys & Girls:
There are all sorts of unique individuals at UCF.
But moreover so for guys we can't go longer than 30 seconds without seeing an attractive woman.

The local atmosphere around the University of Central Florida is very vibrant with many things to do on and off campus.

I really love my school, but I just wish I had a more personal experience. Although my classes were small, which is rare at a University with almost 70,000 attendants/students, I still felt the professors were sometimes rushed or disconnected. I had a wonderful time in my major, English Literature, but I feel I missed out on opportunities to excel because I felt rushed. The weather is beautiful ,the campus is gorgeous and highly accessible, the people are fun and actually pretty nice, normal, healthy students, but you'll get a lot of Greek/Sorority/Frat people in gen eds, Communication/Journalism classes, and that's the worst. Also, they take all the money - if you are in the humanities, forget getting any financial assistance from Student Government. I am impressed with the technology, accessibility, and attempts to integrate and please the second largest student body in the nation (!), but they can streamline a lot. Some tips: traffic is awful and unavoidable in Orlando, so be safe yet aggressive when driving, and use shuttle often. Campus housing is great, off-campus can be slightly scary/dangerous - so research before moving in. Join clubs (small ones) it'll help u meet people and make friends! Tuition is very affordable, lots of tech fees tho. Bookstore is pretty good. Weather is gorgeous but can get very hot from about March to November, sadly. But UCF has lots of sparkling blue pools, and Orlando many lakes and nearby beaches in Cocoa Beach :) Good school, still growing and establishing itself, but still a fantastic experience! Recommend! Go Knights!

The professors are mostly highly knowledgeable, but still quite new to academia as professors. UCF is still a baby University, trying to make it's name by quantity over quality. Classes are pretty good in smaller majors, but gen eds are horrifying. The classes are TOO big, just way too big, and it causes inattentiveness and frustration. Professors are also foreign, much of the time (Spanish/Latino, Middle Eastern/Indian) and it can be pretty difficult to understand them, especially for difficult subjects like Engineering (most of those are Chinese). So, there can be a many difficulties regarding academics for this school. My department, English, however, was a fantastic program with mostly well-educated, cultured, and caring professors. So, I recommend if you want to study English (Literature, specifically, although the CRW program is fantastic, too). Engineering is highly regarded, but poorly managed advising-wise. Needs some more work.

I think that the transportation around UCF is pretty amazing. Almost all off campus housing has their own shuttle to and from UCF and there are buses that can take you around town, as well.

There is just about everything you could imagine to eat around UCF. Whether you are craving sushi or wings, you can find it!

It is very hard to find out where you are at, status wise.

I believe that the University of Central Florida deserves an A for diversity because I can see it everywhere I go on campus. There are students from all around the world in each of my classes. At UCF, we have a politically diverse population as well. In the student courtyars there are always students interacting with one another and teaching each other about a wide variety of information.

Health & Safety:
Personally, I feel very safe at the University of Central Florida. I feel as though the campus is its own community, there are police vehicles driving around all of the time. An interesting point I would like to make about the safety of our school is that during tailgates there are always police officers kindly watching over us to ensure our safety and well being. Anytime there have been incidents of crime on and around campus, I have promptly recieved an email or a text message to inform me of any danger I may be in. I appreciate this very much from my school, this is the first time I have lived away from home and it is important to feel safe! I surely do!

There are a lot of places nearby, most with good prices and specials

You can always call a taxi. The bus is available and usually you can just ride with a friend

The drug scene is not a big deal, and it all depends on who you're around.

I am a Radio/Television Broadcasting major and once I transferred to UCF I realized that UCF has a great variety of majors that can be available to all students. The classes here at UCF are greatly designated to contribute to your specific major, along with internships that are offered, and career fairs hosted every month or even twice a month it is not very hard to find future employers looking to hire.
College Senior 2012-11-29T02:39:18Z
There are people of many different races and religions at UCF. Most people here are white but from different culture habits because they are from all over the United States. For latinos there are many organizations such as ColSA which is the Colombian Student Association and there are also many other organizations for Hispanic culture.
College Senior 2012-11-29T02:32:18Z
The computer labs at UCF are usually spacious and fast passed so that every student that needs a computer can obtain one without having a long wait time. For printing purposes, UCF has a lot of printing stations and the limit is very rational for each student.

I received a decent amount of financial aid, compared to another University I attended, the process of obtaining my financial aid was not a problem because I was able to pay off my tuition and receive my extra money in the necessary time.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
