My major is a lot of fun. You have plenty of opportunities to take exciting classes. My favorite part of the program is the required internship. The internships are always paid and they provide you with the experience you want and can be used for future careers.

I am very happy with my major and I would definitely do it all over again. Some of my short term goals is gain as much experience as I can with the different branches of hospitality. My long term goals is to eventually work for a music venue planning concerts. I am very confident that my program is giving me the right information to get to where I want to be.

I had no problems getting into the hospitality program. As long as you have the grades from high school or as a transfer student from another college you will have no problem with the application process. The best tip I can give is to have ALL of your school documents ready so you don't give the college the wrong information, because it'll just take longer to get accepted into the college.

You are required to do an internship for 3 semesters, it can be with your current job (as long as within a hospitality company) or you can apply for one. I accepted an internship for the Spring with Florida Event Decor and I'm very excited to start. It'll give me a good insight of how conventions and meetings are set up and I get to speak to different executives from different companies. I highly recommend doing internships with the different branches of hospitality, just so that you have that experience and know exactly what you want to do and what you're getting yourself into.

There are so many different options, you'll never be going to the same place twice. I mean, it's orlando, there's going to be about 8 restaurants on each corner.

There aren't really many opportunities. There are a few but since our campus is so large, not enough comparitvely to the number of students. With this high amount of competition it's almost impossible to win anything

They make a lot of scholarships avaliable to you, you just have to look for them!

It can take up to an hour to find a parking spot during the day. Parking is RIDICULOUS. The parking monitors are nazis too, and the permit purchase boxes are so inconvenient and take FOREVER to process. If you find a spot, don't leave campus unless you plan on never returning that day.

I lost my grant money so they could pay for Greek Housing

Parking pretty much sucks due to the huge population of UCF students and faculty.

I haven't had to deal with financial aid that often. However, the few times i've called, my questions were answered quickly and correctly. At the beginning of the semester, there is always a long wait as well. So i suggest having patience or getting there first thing in the morning.

For my major there are no qualifications but you do start to see the amount of people in it decrease the further along in the program you become.

There are a ton of place to go both furnished and unfurnished with room amounts of all kinds.

Depending on your major, you must make sure you take the appropriate pre-requisites, especially if you are a transfer student. I recommend talking with a counselor to figure out which classes would be better to take, since the required classes change every 2 or 3 years (some classes becoming electives, other classes becoming mandatory, etc.). It makes it easier knowing that you didn't have to take a certain class, or if it can be considered an elective.
And you want to make sure that you make friends as you go along. Not only will you be able to study with them and share notes, they often hear things about the program that you don't, so that can help you play your class load accordingly as well.

The garages full up very quickly between 11 and 4, since those are the times when the most classes are in session. I would say to come 1 hour before your class if you want to park. Sometime you are in the garage circling around for 30-45-60-80 minutes, just to find a parking space. Depending on where your class is, you may want to park in the garage that ISN'T nearest to it. This way, you may be able to park faster, and just have to walk an extra 5-10 minutes. But since the garages are pretty much close to any of the main buildings on campus, parking at any of them won't put you too far put of your way.
Also, most of the housing communities within a 2-mile radius offer free shuttles to school. If you live at one of the places, I recommend using this service (technically, you already pay for the service, so you might as well milk it).
Sorry, there are no reviews.
