Im a student at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. Im an event/hospitality double major. The curriculum is fabulous and our campus and facilities are excellent. When I visited the campus the first time it blew my mind. The classes aren't a breeze through but it's college so they shouldn't be either. And I get an email with job/internship opportunities pretty much every day.

Financial aid is definitely stressfull. I'd say keep on top of things at all times. Don't just send your paperwork in and forget about the rest cause you might get a nasty surprise. The process is easy as long as you know what you're doing... which I didnt! But I contacted the financial aid offices and they helped a lot. There are plenty of scholarships and the SGA offers scholarships also. Though I feel a lot of the scholarships are very specific and you have to be an all out student participating in everything, and for a 24 year old with a full time job, its kind of hard! So I wish they had more scholarship options for students who don't have the time to join a thousand clubs!

I'm a transfer student. Process was relatively easy but I had to constantly email and call the offices to make sure they had my paperwork. I had to start one semester after originally planned because they asked for paperwork last minute that didn't get to them in time... and then it turned out I didn't need to turn it in at all. Everyone was always helpfull and polite though and answered whatever questions I had.

It is a true college town. There is always something to do. There are clubs in downtown Orlando and plenty of places to eat along the road near UCF. On campus, there are as many things to do as off-campus. You're bound to see people from UCF everywhere you go around town. There is a real sense of community.

Health & Safety:
Never felt unsafe on campus. Health center is great.

As a transfer student I had already decided on my major. My suggestion is to meet with an advisor before you begin taking classes, this way you know exactly what you need, instead of taking classes you dont. Also find something you love to do and stick with it. It might get hard at times but its worth it.

It is advise to get to class early in order to find a parking spot closest to your class. However there are a great amount of parking garages on campus for students who need them. The way that UCF is designed, you can park almost anywhere, if you don't mind the walking.

I've been selected for verification every year, which is a huge hassle. This year, the lady at the office gave me incorrect information regarding a section on the form, and I lost half my pell grant.

Market place has good food most of the time and the dinning experience is great because there are a lot of choices between restaurants and where to eat. there are restaurants everywhere so it is easy to find some place to eat where ever you are.

The strictness is good on what is needed -drugs, violence, alcohol, and other stuff- but not over bearing.

We are trying to expand our athletic program, and get more involved and it will be there in a couple of years

I am very excited with the program I am in. Hospitality management is such a staple especially in the Orlando area, and it provides numerous opportunities for students. My career goals is to adopt a culture at a pristine resort or hotel and grow with the company. I highly believe that I will not have any concerns finding a job in my field because of just the location of the campus which attracts competitive employers and the reputation of being a Rosen College student.

I attend the Rosen campus and with this being my first semester I can honestly say that I am enjoying all of my classes. The instructors are very positive and resourceful. Whats unique about this program is that it has build such a positive reputation of successfully preparing students, it has become a breathing ground for employers to recruit. The are always internships available year round and they are targeted strictly to hospitality students. As far as course work which I am not a fan of, I actually enjoy it because it all ties in with what I will be experiencing in the work force one day.

With 60,000 students, which about 48,000 them actually attend class in the main campus, and only about 11,000 parking spaces..........it is a war to get a parking spot. Commit to school early or just take the bus.

There MANY places you can print and use computers on UCF's campus. There is the Library, SGA (Student Government Association) computer lab (with 100 free pages of print per week), Technology Commons, and all the computer labs within the specific colleges. The internet connection is usable, nothing fancy but it is all you need for school work and entertainment.

Health & Safety:
It is very safe campus. There is a police branch specific to the UCF campus, so crime does not really occur here. They even have a program called "SDES", it is a service that when called, they will come pick you up and safely take you to your destination.

I really enjoy this program, but it does take a great deal of time and professionalism.

If you aren't teaching yet, you'll need to take the GKT (General Knowledge Test). You'll need to take this with enough time for your scores to come back to be accepted into the program by the due date.

Great weather, sometimes rain but for short periods of time. Really sunny and comfortable. The summer is hot, but not hard to deal with. We have a/c!

Reasonable price, close to classes, always spots, out of the weather in a garage

I am catholic and mixed and i feel great here. There do seem to be more white people here than anything but there is still decent amount and lots of variety of all races and religions and what not. It might not be a cultural melting pot but i feel great here.

There is ALWAYS a party to go to, or a bar, or club. Something is always going on on the weekends and it's really not hard to get involved in the "nightlife" once you make a few friends. Sometimes it feels like there's too much fun to be had and you forget you're at school. haha
College Sophomore 2012-11-09T21:13:14Z
People will say that greek life is a big deal but those are the people that are involved in it. If you aren't involved in it then you see it around campus and you'll hear about and go to their parties but that's about it. It's not necessary to make friends but I'm sure it makes it a lot easier.

Guys & Girls:
My first week here i was completely baffled by how it was possible that so many attractive guys could live in one place. Now i notice them less but it's still really impressive. ;)
Sorry, there are no reviews.
