Be sure to get a parking pass for the year if you have a car or you will get a ticket. There are several parking garages. I would just be sure to give yourself ample time to get to the campus and to park and get to class as there is always traffic Monday- Thursday, Friday is alittle lighter except during normal rush hours. The summer isn't nearly as bad as far as campus parking goes. I typically give myself a half hour to park and get to my class on a regular day.

UCF was just one of those schools that as soon as I took my first tour, I knew it was for me. I liked the comfortable atmosphere of the campus and the location of the school in relation to the city as well as being less than an hour from local beaches. The school campus is set up so that you feel like you are at home away from home, with your own "little town" of restaurants, bookstores, and campus activities. I have come to appreciate the tutoring opportunities that they offer along the way when your studies seem to get away from you. I have been priviledged to take SI classes that offer study groups for specific classes and I have truly benefitted from these for Chemistry classes. They were a godsend! Never give up; there is always help for tutoring or study groups if you reach out for it.

I go to the Rosen hospitality campus, and, since it is a smaller campus, it is easier for campus police to monitor. The entire campus is gated with security controlled access gates, and you can easily see the entire campus from just about any position, so if anything were to ever happen, anyone who was outside would know about it. The only security issue is the over flow parking lot because it is outside the gates, and there are not any lights for this lot.

My friend had scraped up his knee while longboarding and visited the clinic, where he was treated immediately and given a generous amount of supplies to dress and clean the wound.

The campus has many paths that were built through the woods keeping as much of the surroundings in place as possible. As a matter of fact, I will warn you that you should look foward when walking through the woods as I have witnessed many people running into the trees that the deck paths were built around to walk over the standing water/small ponds around campus! There were new medical buildings recently completed and the buildings next to the football field where some of the on campus living resides, is next to a community that makes you feel like your in your own little town - and you are! It is very comfortable and fun!

UCF has a plethora of opportunities to its students whether its internships, co-ops, clubs or just activities. There is always something to do everyday most often for free to any student. There is also a higher standard set by professors in most of the classes I have taken since graduating from both high school and community college.

There is so much to do in Orlando and surrounding cities. The community thrives on the school spirit and the locals provide a safe, clean area for the students to work, eat and enjoy the night life! There are always local events to participate in in addition to the events hosted by the school and the typical movies, shopping (so many outlet malls!) and an abundance of restaurants. I have experienced the local housing for the college students and there are so many options within minutes of the University. The school is very supportive and the opportunities it offers to the students makes it a win-win to pass and be proud of your accomplishments. Truly, no student is left behind! I love the campus, the atmosphere and the school spirit. It has been a great experience for me. GO KNIGHTS!

There is no shortage of virtually every kind of restaurant that you can think of. One drive down University Blvd and you will see all kinds of Mexican places, sushi, chain restaurants and sports bars. Just a few minutes ahead and you will go into Waterford Lakes, a shopping plaza filled to the brim with even more eateries.

Not enough spaces, the university is the second largest in the US.

I have never felt unsafe walking alone at UCF. Even if I did there are security "pols" located throughout the campus where you cab press a button if you feel unsafe and someone will be there shortly and can escort you to wherever you need to go. The only bad thing; there have been reported robberies. So put away your things in your car trunk, don't leave hem visible in the car.

UCF's Orlando campus is in a great location. Their are many things to do off campus, all the attractions (Epcot, Universal, Wet'n Wild etc) are only 30 minutes away by car. Everything you need is less than a 10 minute drive away; supermarkets, banks, restaurants.

The atmosphere at the football games is absolutely amazing. The fitness center on campus is fantastic and there literally is a club out there for everyone.

There are many different bus stops around campus both to other locations on campus and also to off-campus housing.

Being at the University of Central Florida has been a blessing. I have really viewed different aspects of life coming here, I have met many different people, and I have learned a few personal things since I have been away from my family and my boyfriend. This experience has taught me that I can accomplish a lot things on my own with God on my side, and there are many encouraging students as well as advisers.

The safety and the security around the campus is pretty good. You see security and police officers as needed and monitoring things here and there so you feel pretty secure, yet when its night time with the campus being so huge it is a little scary walking alone but I just keep a well watch of all of my surroundings.

The shuttle transportation at the University of Central Florida is very convenient. As a student we must pay for transportation cost as well as parking decals so I just choose to take the shuttle and not buy a decal while also saving gas. They run every 15 to 30 minutes so you must schedule your timing correctly and be in place.

Parking on campus is a little ridiculous at times not only in the garages but in guest parking as well. They give students or vehicles that do not include a UCF parking decal, a $30 fine and there are a lot of students who are very inconsiderate at times. In order to get any where on campus on time, when driving, you must allow 30 minutes or more to avoid traffic, and to find a descent parking space. I would suggest taking the shuttle transportation that is provided to school from student housing which runs every 15 to 30 minutes.

I have never felt threatened at all here. There are a bunch of emergency phones that you can use if you do feel threatened. All you have to worry about is the people you don't realize that the sidewalk is made for walking and not driving.

There are a TON of off-campus, nearby housing opportunities for anyone interested. Having experienced both on-campus and off-campus housing, I can gladly share my experiences. UCF is located in the Orlando area, and Orlando isn't exactly known for it's safe community. However, if you select a good area, you can avoid any hassle and worries. Cost is based on how high of a quality you desire. Price ranges can be as low as 800$ for a two bedroom apartment each month, to 800$ for a single room in a multilevel apartment complex. Generally, they're all nearby UCF, which is a big surplus, and most (if not all!) have pools, gyms, and shuttles to UCF.
College Junior 2012-09-27T07:34:57Z
UCF has many shuttles continually running around a fifteen minute schedule. The only problem, however, is that generally the buses don't follow their own fifteen minute schedule, and can fall off that pattern as much as ten minutes (give or take!) They do have many stops, however, and riding them is generally pretty leisurely.

There are plenty of different cultures and the ethnic diversity at UCF is splendid! Everywhere you look you can see different faces and different backgrounds.

Personally I found the financial aid process, like applying, very confusing. It has so many levels, at least for FAFSA. However, once I got it done it's freeing and I know I'll have some money coming in. So it's helpful in the end to put in all the work.

The students are very good looking if one knows where to look, but if not it can get a little scary. That's college though, a lot of people don't seem to care about looks as much compared to high school.

Parking on campus is truely horrible. It takes about thirty minutes to find a spot and it tends to be on the top of the parking garage. That makes my car a sauna by the time I want to leave. I find it is easier to walk to class, and faster too.
College Sophomore 2012-09-25T22:26:08Z
Definitely seen worse. I've heard a lot of dorms get roaches and ants. So far, I've been in the clear (I'm in Libra), usually dorms with kitchenettes are at risk for roaches and ants. Sans your personal touch the dorms sort of look like prison, but honestly it gets the job done. Just sleep and shower here. It could be worse, but definitely could be better!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
