Living the Florida Life! Living in Florida, it is usually warm and hot here everyday. It does rain every now and then, but it will only be for a couple minutes.

Strict Rules – On campus, they are very strict on drinking and smoking. Many people who get caught in dorms get warnings or get on probation. So, if you get drunk, dont go wandering about campus. Keep it on the down low! They are also very strict on plagarism in classes and about taking tests. However, those are usually the professors who are guaranteed to have good pass rates!

On campus, there are many fast-food restaurants such as Chick-fil-A, Subway, and more. There are also 2 cafeterias where you can go if you purchase a meal plan. The food is average in the cafeterias, and sometimes they have really good food. They have multiple stations such as a pasta station, pizza station, salad bar, and a mongolian grill. There are also many restaurants in the many plazas right outside of UCF too.

It's Not Home, but It's Something – Food is our dire necessity, the body longs for its nourishment and it's hard to ignore your stomach growling when you're hungry. Being a Miami Native, I was open to nothing but variety, famous mom and pop restaurants and diners, fast food and not so fast food. I could have Haitian cuisine, Cuban dessert, and Chinese take-out at whim; if there was any place in the world I felt like eating I could find it in the corner of my neighborhood within seconds; the true melting pot! I came to UCF, with the same expectations and the same appetite, only to be left disappointed. Cuban coffee is miles away, and Family Restaurants are belittled by the power and anarchy of food franchises. The only comfort I get in my food is, knowing that I purchased every item from a dollar menu and probably saved enough change to go to a different Burger King or McDonalds tomorrow. Off-Campus only provides a diverse chain of fast food plazas. It's okay only because I know it's not home and college isn't cheap, but I miss stuffing my face with delicious, home-style meals from neighborhood restaurants and getting my money's worth.

UCF seems to contain a sample of religions and races that is proportional to an average metropolitan city.

Not only do you have great on campus dining, but the off campus options are reasonably priced, accessible, and there is plenty of them.

Not Seen – Drinking is a very popular night time activity here at UCF. The dorms are strictly monitered, but there are numerous clubs right accross the street. Other than drinking, I have not heard of drug use, peer pressure, or even police enforcement.

UCf is so diverse, there is a fraternity or sorority for just about anybody. Greek life is seen throughout the campus, but it is not really important. Greek members are definately outnumbered by the "non-greeks". There are 3 fraternity houses and many more sorority houses on campus as well. They are well kept up and compliment the university.

Orlando, Florida – There are a whole bunch of electives for my major. Not related electives, just free electives. This doesn't bother me, as I have the opportunity to take random classes that I find interesting, but it does tend to knock me off focus. I enjoy most of the classes I have to take for my major and am looking forward to more rewarding and fun classes in the future.

UCF is in a great area for off-campus dining. There is every type of food you could think of, very close by.

Orlando, Florida – Mostly fast food places such as Taco Bell and Mcdonalds, but there are also some nice sit in restaurants such as Smokey Bones and Olive Garden. Then there are some unique restaurants such as Chee Burger Chee Burger. Cost is only high when you go fancy. Everything is within a 15 minute drive and usually long lines are nonexistant.

Orlando, Florida – The school itself is great. Good professors and courses offered. Half hour's drive from downtown where the Amway Center, home of the Orlando Magic, Disney World, Universal Studios, and only an hour away from the world famous Daytona Beach. Near Downtown Disney and the Outlet malls. Basketball at school offers good entertainment, watching Michael Jordan's son Marcus play is always a treat. Soon joining the Big East and will no doubt grow even bigger.

There are many ways to get to the University of central Florida. They have a sister campus, Valencia that has 4 campuses that you can take some classes at. Also there are shuttles and toll high ways.

Inside Scoop – Almost anything you want to do on campus you can find at UCF, but if you don't you can always create your own club! We have inter-mural sports, greek life, scholar fraternities, the chocolate club, SGA, homecoming events, and so much more. It is very easy to get involved on campus. The hardest part is figuring out what you want to do first!

UCF is the exactly what you would expect of FL weather. More than half of the year is sunshine and heat. We get about two cold months in the beginning of each year, but it never lasts very long. We get rain showers about once a day during the summer months, but it is usually at the same time every day and makes it very predictable.

UCF is not really known for its sports programs like some other Florida schools. However, the students at UCF get so excited about our teams that you wouldn't believe we were not the best in the state. Our student athletes try very hard and we support them all the way, win or lose.

The Greek scene is active for those who want to participate in Greek life, but the majority of the student population is not involved with a sorority or fraternity. Greek row has the normal parties, but the frats and sororities also give back by participating in campus and community activities.

5 minutes away there are very good clubs, but if you're willing to drive 20 minutes or so you'll find Roxy and Vain to have amazing venues. I've seen Tiesto, Steve Aoki, autoerotique, Avicii, Skrillex, all play here in Orlando.

Sports for Everyone – Athletics are pretty popular on the UCF campus, and there is a nice sense of school spirit in support of the varsity teams. The athletic facilities are nice, including the gym and swimming pools. There are opportunities for students to engage in athletic activities no matter what their athletic abilities may be.
