Health & Safety:
Safety Seems Decent – UCF seems to take care of safety measures quite well. There is a UCF police station on campus. Located around campus are push button posts that call campus workers to your location in case of emergency. Students can also sign up on the school's email list. This list will send out email's if a crime or something like that comes up.

Goes Round and Round – The circular campus does a lot to make you feel like you're immersed in the world of college where ever you are on campus. There's always something happening at the student union and the numerous study areas spread around campus means that you'll always be able to find a spot to study and will often run into your friends anywhere on campus. Get into Greek Life and be involved with your Student Organizations and you'll have a great time at UCF, just remember to study.

Unfortunately, the UCF administration is NOT Greek friendly. While the greek community as expanded in recent years, it has done so in the face of constant adversity driven primarily from a hostile administration which refuses to represent these students in a fair environment. Besides this, the Greek life is thriving and it maintains the close knit community that Greek Life is normally associated with. It's always great to sit next to a person on a random flight to Chicago and be able to talk about Greek Life.

Computer Science Teachers Actually Care – It's rare now a days to see a college which hires Professors who actually care about your education and progression through out your years. UCF's Computer Science track has a really great person in charge of Advising and some stellar Professors who help to direct the education of the teachers. From getting you in the classes you need when you ACTUALLY need them to getting you an internship or research program, they are there for you and it has been really refreshing.

Transferring Made Easy. As a transfer student, all of my records were sent to UCF by the community college I attended beforehand. Once my paperwork was processed, it was simply a matter of updating everything to ensure all information was current. Took a little bit of a wait, but I'm getting free money, so I didn't mind.

No Car? No Problem. Several of Orlando's public transportation buses have drop off points that are near UCF shuttles, and most, if not all, shuttles offered from UCF are free to use.

The campus buckles down about a few different things. Campus police are HUGE on J-Walking. Nobody really knows why, but it is the highest ticket on campus. They are driving around constantly. As far as partying on campus goes, there are a few upperclassmen living situation on campus, therefore the strictness really isn't up to par for on campus partying.

Places Are Everywhere. There are a great deal of apartment complexes and homes for rent near the UCF campus. Many of them are pricey, but many drop in price as the distance from the school grows. A fifteen minute drive to school may cost gas, but usually ultimately means money saved on rent. Many also offer additional services, such as school shuttles, pools, gyms, etc.

Guys & Girls:
Guys and Girls on Campus – The guys on campus are mostly athletic. When I walk into the gym it is always packed, and many guys are all on sorts of teams at the school. Girls are also very athletic. Greek life is HUGE at UCF and many guys and girls are very involved. As a theatre major I surround myself with that crowd more often and it is definitely a smaller community at UCF, which is nice.

The off campus dining options consist of many! Orlando is almost built around UCF which makes it easy to find something to enjoy in every direction.

Not at All! Other univerities I have attended affect the students dramatically!! Here no one cares, they are still happy-go-lucky and fibrant as if the sun was shinning!! Just grab an umbrella--this is Florida!

The Library Is Helpful!! I love the library because when I need to get caught up on school work I can always count on the library. It's quiet and the staff are always helpful; they even have a tech support associate here to help if your computer is acting up!! Not to mention the reassuring coffee shop located beside the computers!!

I truly enjoy being a Sociology major, I have met friends from having them in multiple classes. The classes are very interesting and are on the right track for my future. I have also minored in criminal justice which makes the program so much more interesting. Professors are very helpful and preparing students for graduate school.

On Campus Food – UCF's campus offers a variety of different food places for students to enjoy. Although majority may seem like fast food places, there is a salad bar as well as a pita place that are healthier. The locations are very convenient and located in different areas around campus. Coupons are given to those students that live on campus and are encouraged to go to these places to eat.

Fairly Easy – It was pretty easy to sign up for financial aid. I could use a little more than I was given in order to pay for books and housing, but signing up was simple.

Academic Dishonesty Is Strictly Enforced – Any academic dishonesty has serious consequences at UCF.

Not a Problem – I don't really see to much of a problem with drugs and alcohol at UCF. Campus is safe and I feel like most of the students are smart enough to make safe decisions if choosing to drink.

Even though Orlando is a major city, the area around UCF is actually fairly quiet and peaceful. the campus is surrounded by smaller towns and suburbs and the local area pretty much feels like a college town. There are night clubs across the street from the university, but nothing major ever happens there. I personally feel very safe in this area.
College Junior 2012-01-12T02:27:20Z
Drugs and Alcohol – It's no secret that people use drugs and drink at UCF, but most people are smart enough to drink off campus and use drugs in secluded places. I personally don't do it, but I have witnessed illegal drug usage only one or two times. Many students smoke hookah openly which is fine because it's legal.

UCF stands for opportunity, and the institute offers so many opportunities to further you're learning. For example, internships, study abroad programs, career services can help you find a job and critic your resume if you're not sure yours is just right, the career expo comes to UCF during the Fall semester. We also have over 400 clubs on campus.

Don't ever park on campus with out a decal. You will get a ticket and it won't be cheap...nor fun to deal with.

Moes Mexican Restaurant – If you like mexican food you'll love Moe's. If you're in a sorority or fraternity at UCF you get 10% off on Sundays. It's a great place to go with you're friends.

A Little on the Expensive Side. There are about 5 to 10 off-campus student housings. Some are reasonably priced if you have 3 other roommates. Otherwise, I'd suggest to get an apartment/house that is not school affiliated.
College Senior 2012-01-11T23:02:25Z
Tons of dining options within 5 minutes of campus. There is something for everyone!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
