Great Gym – The gym at UCF is great. I love to workout there. The facility is always immaculate and the staff is friendly. The selection of equipment is awesome too. The only problem is that it can get really busy, but I just go in the mornings to avoid that. Also the gym wastes a lot of money on useless things, like finger print scanners. Which comes out of the students pockets.

Great Place to Learn – I have been at UCF for several months and not had any problems. The college is completely safe. The areas around the campus itself has some crime, but I have not had any trouble.

Hospitality: Easy – Getting into any of the three hospitality majors/programs is very easy. There is not separate application process with the main UCF application. There is no interview or portfolio evaluation, and they are lenient on student's GPA's. Admission varies for everyone. As far as tips go, just do your best on the SAT/ACT and try to get a high GPA.

Rosen Campus – The UCF Rosen Campus of Hospitality is a state of the art and unique campus dedicated to hospitality majors. The campus and the adjacent apartments are breathtaking with a Mediterranean styled theme. What makes the Rosen campus unique is the plethora of unique learning environments such as the wine and beer lab and the Disney Dining Room, which gives students hands on experience in their hospitality studies.

Avoid Local Clubs – UCF nightlife is perfect for those who don't want to travel 10 miles downtown to pay a higher cover rate. UCF clubs are most 18 and older. I personally prefer house parties because they are free and the music is more to my liking. Deko, Fubar, and Knight's Library are local favorites in terms of clubs in the area.

Less than a mile from campus, there is a diverse range of local dining favorites. One of the most loved University of Central Florida staples is Greens and Grille. Greens and Grille offers organic, healthy meals at affordable prices. My favorite pizza place off-campus is Lazy Moon. Lazy Moon offers dollar slices that are extremely large. You will definitely get your money's worth!

Never Feel Alone – The University of Central Florida enticed me with their legals studies program. There is always someone able to help you with school, whether it be at the math lab, writing lab, advisor meetings, or at the library.

The University of Central Florida encourages students to join a club based on your interest. The school offers over 300 clubs ranging from "The Chocolate Lovers Club" to different honor societies. The University of Central Florida challenges students to create a club, if it has not already been made. To create a club, a student will need to accrue 9 other members. Therefore, the University of Central Florida encourages individuality and creativity alike.

Weekends at the University of Central Florida revolve around sports, whether it be a football, basketball, or a softball game. The University of Central Florida offers an extraordinary extraordinary workout facility. Trainers, nutritionists, psychologists, and academic advisors are always at the aid of students.

Around the University of Central Florida area, one can definitely find an apartment for a reasonable price of about $500 a month. The problem with this are hidden fees. Association fees, move-in fees, utility fees, and many more. Many apartment complexes are trying to attract university students by removing move-in fees before a certain date or giving away two months of free rent. It is fairly easy to locate an apartment near campus, and many even offer free shuttles to and from campus.

I'm a hospitality major and have only had one class for the major thus far but its been wonderful. For my major they like to have teachers that have years of experience in the actual hospitality industry and know first hand what they are teaching. Teachers encourage you to meet with other professionals and even require you to interview industry pros for assignments on occasion.

Underage Drinking. I do not particularly find the rules and policies of the school to be that ridiculous when it comes to most things such as drinking. The rules are pretty strict since if you are under 21 and alcohol is found in your room even if it is empty you lose housing even if it is a first offense. To some people that may seem harsh but underage drinking is illegal and you are paying thousands of dollars for an education not to party.

The local weather the majority of the time is pleasant. It does not get too cold during the winter, but when it rains it is somewhat inconvenient when going to and from class.

The off-campus housing is surprisingly very convenient. The most useful system is the buses, they are constantly running and take you to and from campus and your housing.

Health & Safety:
Police and Safety Services – The University of Central Florida takes great precautions in keeping their students safe. I have always had a sense of security on campus, especially since their are always police patrolling. Also, if you have the option of being escorted to your car late at night if you do not feel safe.

Off campus housing is expensive and im not allowed enough money to afford it.

Great Help and Lots of Information! At the University of Central Florida, staff at the Financial Aid office are always quite helpful in answering questions, and they are pretty good about answering phone calls and assisting through that means as well.

Impact of Pee Pressure – At the University of Central Florida, I would not say that drugs are running rampant on campus, but of course there are some issues with it. Peer pressure in this matter seems to be the greatest force and some students have fallen down because of it.

Being a Commuter – It's not really campus housing, but it is quite nice being able to go home each day and not worry about noisy neighbors or annoying roommates. I like having my own space to live and study, and I don't think I would change it.

I have really enjoyed my time at UCF. There are so many things to get into and nearly all of them have an aspect of helping the surrounding community.UCF has an amazing recreation center and the student union is known as the heart of the campus as it the spot to go to if you have any problems and no matter how lost you get you can always find it at the center of campus. The colleges with in it are really organized and despite being the 2nd largest university in the nation, its never seems crowded and its close enough to seem like a family. The sports are great and the students and alumni are dedicated fans. UCF offers many oppurtunities after graduation because they have connections with many businesses.

We have a large greek life on campus. Coming from a campus sorority, I can sincerely say that philanthropies is something we don't joke about. Greek row is nice but there are still some greeks that don't have homes that house their organizations. Sometimes this impacts how the other greeks view those organizations. Non greeks view us as paying to make friends but it is more than that. It is a wonderful networking tool and creates relationships with people you didn't think you would ever have one with. My step sister is now in my sorority and its nice to see she fell in love with the same organization. Sometimes the frat guys don't represent greeks well but you see that everywhere. Many of the guys are very nice and support the sororities.

I have felt very safe on UCF's campus. I find walking by myself at night fearless, relaxing, and mostly quiet. The student union stays open really late, and would be a haven if I ever was to run into trouble. The campus police seem to have a handle on things with out being overbearding or noticable. There have been very few incidents due to the quality of students and those involved in campus safety.

Party at Your Leisure – Students have an array of places to go in the Orlando area. If you live on campus, you can walk or take a shuttle across the street to the three clubs that offer entertainment nightly. If you want something more nicer than that, you can car pool downtown where the nicer bars are but only if your 21 and over. Since UCF is located in one of the biggest tourist towns in the U.S there is theme parks, shopping, outdoor events, etc. Transportation is very easy to access. We have the lynx bus system, car pooling, UCF shuttles and many more. It is quite possible to see what Orlando has to offer without a car.

The Melting Pot – UCF has fortunately opened my eyes up to a lot of races, religion, belives, etc. Every year the university has a month of cultural awareness and brings speakers, hosts events and has tables in front of the union to educate the students that the world doesn't revolve around ourselves and there are others out there. A few weeks ago UCF had Chaz Bono come and talk about his life and his experiences while transitioning from female to male. There were many people there that could relate and during the Q & A session, many thanked him for what he does.
During a given week, people set up tables and utilize the free speech areas around the campus in hopes of enlightening their fellow knights. UCF provides education not only inside the classrooms but outside on its side walks and free speech areas.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
