Good Variety but Not a Lot of Open Classes – Can't find enough open classes to have a full schedule.

Sunny Skys and Bright Sunshine! The bright central Florida weather is fantastic at UCF. Though some days are hot during the summer, it is not nearly as humid as at the coast.

Beware the Traffic Ninjas! I received a 40 dollar ticket for an expired license plate that I tried to fight (being my first ticket.) If I even showed up to an actual court, the fees would have been less than ten dollars. Through UCF, I paid the same price... c'mon!

There are three general labs known to most students; the Student Government lab, the express Student Government lab, and the Library labs. Each one is a struggle to get access to, though there is 20 pages of free printing a day in the Student Government sponsored labs. The only computers I can find that are available in the library are in the basement, and even then there is usually only one or two open. Internet access slows during busy times, like around lunch. Overall, I give them a "B."

I have had the most difficult time trying to get financial aid. Most of the people there do not care at all about your financial hardship. They do not answer questions very well. In addition, I received a grant of $1200 in April---after I had already taken out a loan and put myself into unnecessary debt! What is the purpose getting a grant 3 months after the start of the semester?! They're ridiculous.

All of the good clubs are 25 minutes away in downtown Orlando

Convenience Is Key – Apollo dorms were pretty awesome because you can wake up 10 minutes before class and make it on time! Right next to the library, cafeteria, and administration office! I don't think Libra is that great. The social atmosphere is very fun and friendly. Moving in was pretty easy. Only complaint is that they kick you out of the dorms once fall exams are over until spring starts back up which is extremely annoying for students with no where else to go.

So Far So Good – Scary at first but didn't take long to learn the ropes.

Freshman Dorms – Nice people for the most part. Rooms with individual thermostats.Cabel TV,wall to wall carpeting. Plenty of room.

I do as many classes online as I can because of the long commute I have to make to go to school. From what I see it is very obvious that many students take part in drinking. I have not seen any of it while I have been on campus. Obviously there are students who do various drugs but it is apparent that drinking is the most popular thing to do.

Live on Campus – I do not live on campus, I live at home and commute a couple times a week.

Food on Campus – The dining hall food is mediocre but inside the student union there is a nice choice of options. The only complaint is that food is fairly costly and it is easy to blow a lot of money when you spend a full day on campus.

Multiple Clubs – The variety of clubs at the University of Central Florida is exceptional. There are over 400 clubs that students can become a part of. The availability of joining the clubs are very simple and at orientation they show students where the office is to join clubs.

Popular Drinking – On football game days, tailgating and drinking is abundant. More than half of the students can be found holding an alcoholic drink.

Pre-Req Classes Are Helpful – I am in the undergraduate program at University of Central Florida, wanting to attend the College of Education and the pre-requisite classes that I have to take are helpful because I am required to get service learning hours which help you get out into the classrooms. The professors schedule face to face meetings and get to know you on a personal level, they are concerned with my progress.

Pretty Great Place – I have Had a great time here at UCF. I will be here for another two years and I really think that this is a wonderful place for people to attend. It is closer to home than other places and has a great teaching staff. I love the classes and think that other people who dont want to go to a very classy university should choose this school!

Pretty Good Place – I came to UCF as a transfer student. I was hoping to complete my program in 2 - 2 1/2 year but found that there are alot of prerequisites that I was unaware of before I made my decision. It is making the process harder but overall I am having a nice time at the college. The advisors are normally available to speak to and are fairly helpful.

I Love Elem Education! The college of education has prepared me to the best of its ability to become a successful elementary teacher. I have not had a single problem with any of my professors, and I have learned so much from each class so far that I know will be useful for my future. I am not worried about finding a job in my field since teachers are so needed and there is a great possibility to get hired at the school you intern at. Even if I do not get hired right away, I know not to worry since I will be ESOL certified as well as Reading endorsed. This means that my application will have more value than other applicants applying for the same position.

College of Edu – The college of education is great! I love the small class and how everyone is so helpful and friendly with everything. The CMC is a great resource for any education student, seeing as it allows access to so many different types of resources that we can use during internships and for various projects and activities for classes. It also serves as a great computer lab.

Many Options. There are many options near and around the UCF area. I know people who have been able to find decent priced apartments right next to campus, as well as in the surrounding areas. Avalon and Waterford are about ten-fifteen minutes away from campus and have great housing options.. they are expensive though. You do have to be careful where you decide to live since "good/safe" apartment complexes can be right next door to an unsafe one.. just research a lot before you decide on a place to live.

In my opinion the nightlife around UCF is a disgrace. The bars are dirty as can be with a ton of underage people running around. I think if you want to have a good time at a bar I'd take a further drive to downtown.

I think UCF is pretty diverse although there are a lot of white students compared to any other.

The only transportation I know is via a shuttle or driving yourself.
Recent Alumnus 2011-11-28T18:02:45Z
There is a ton of dining around UCF and all over Orlando in general. Around campus there are a few places that I know of that do student discounts if there are more then they must not do a good job of advertising it. The options around school cost wise are pretty reasonable. You can find something in your price range.

Have Yet to Become Acquainted With – Unfortunately, I have yet to really get involved in the greek scene. I have a couple of friends who are in it, but we don't discuss it in depth. It is something that interests me, but I feel as though some of the sororities are a little closed off. It's a little difficult getting to know them.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
