Late Night Snacking – The dining hall is open till midnight when you want to get something to eat. There is also a chick-fil-a on campus which no other school has.

In big lecture halls the professors make themselves available to every student. They have resources for students to make good grades.

Home Away from Home – Located on the eastside of Orlando, University of Central Florida is what brings the city to life. In fact, if you weren't careful, you would think that the university was a city all on its own, as it sits upon acres and acres of land. Not to mention it feels as though most of the theme parks are in our backyard.

SGA Making Leaps and Bounds – Last year the SGA opened up a study room near the Arena and the Towars on-campus apartments. It is open 24 hours during the week with lots of hours on the weekends as well. This year they changed the Student Union hours. It is now also open 24 hours 5 days a week and offers study areas as well as social areas to hang out with your friends. The Student Union also has free Scantrons for students and is home to the SGA ticket counter where you can get discounted tickets to local attractions.

Drink It up – There is not an excess of illicit drug usage, probably the same as anywhere else. Drinking, however, is excessive. There is no problem for underage students to drink in regards to access and location.

The Happiest Place on Earth – With Disney World, Universal Orlando, water parks, and one of the largest tourism areas in the country, there is always something to do. Waterford Lakes Center is only a few miles from campus and has lots of shopping and dining options. International Drive, Universal Orlando, and the Mall at Millenia are about 30 minutes away and feature upscale shopping, the theme park experience, and bars and dining establishments galore! Many local vendors give discounts to UCF students, and the UCF SGA provides discounted tickets to theme parks, etc. to students.

Since our campus is in central Florida, we often have those afternoon thunderstorms. Luckily my parking garage and Education/Teaching Academy are close to each other, so it does not effect me that much.

Greek life at UCF is pretty popular, but not as big as schools like Florida State, or UF. There's a handful of houses of the more popular frats and sororities on Greek Row, but there arent that many parties anymore. I have friends in frats and sororities and I dont view them differently.

The gym at Central Florida is such a positive outlet for me. It's a clean facility with a fun environment. All of our equipment is brand new and I never have to wait for any machines- it's huge. Also our student union has so many choices to eat and places to study. It's a hang out for many students.

All of the amenities, social atmosphere, cost, and housing facilities are mediocre at best.

Menu, Price, and Locations Are Subpar – Overall, the choices are unhealthy, overpriced, and inconveniently located around campus. They treat it strictly like a business and don't offer a healthy alternative at competitive prices.

Health & Safety:
Typical Metropolitan City, Big Campus – Since it's next to a large city, it has more crime than desired, however, the police presence on campus is definitely felt and they do a decent job. I haven't had any problems personally, but if anything off campus crime is much more rampant than on campus crime.

Ucf is such a huge university that it offers so many things for it's students, and because of the nature of the school being big it seems as though that there are events happening every week.

Drug Uses – personally I believe in the straight edge lifestyle, meaning I don't drink or do recreational drugs. I try to stay away from the drug scenery completely.

Guys & Girls:
Diverse Knights – The University of Central Florida is a place full of much diversity. Every student has their own unique, personal style that they bring. I don't see a lot of relationships happening on campus.
College Junior 2011-10-07T23:52:06Z
Knight Food – The food and dining options on campus is well provided. There is much variety in the food. There is food from many cultures. The menu and places vary from Italian to Asian. The prices are at average. Sometimes, there will be specials going on for the students so that they can save money.

Health & Safety:
Knight Life – The safety and security on campus is at its finest. There are always security enforcers around campus to assist and provide safety for the students. At night, there are enforcers that drive around campus and help drive the students to their destination. I do feel very safe when I am on campus. I do not feel as if I should be worried about my safety. I admire the University of Central Florida and the protection that it provides for its fellow knights.

A Never-Ending Competition – It seems like everyone on campus is trying to outdo one another when it comes to fashion, play, and partying. I see too many Ed Hardy and Jersey Shore wannabes, too many frat bros or "fros". It just seems like alot of the students there are for the wrong reason, you're there for an education not to show off how much you can drink or your new spray tan.

Something for Everyone – There's something for everyone just off campus on University. From diners to steakhouses,to hole-in-the-walls and franchised brands you're guaranteed to find food to fit even the most diverse of palates.

After my freshman summer I moved into student affiliated housing across the street, where I've lived the last three years. The shuttle service went from being dependable and well timed to the point where if you missed a shuttle you knew another one would be along shortly, to the point where now if you miss a bus you might as well go home, because you've got a long wait ahead of you.

UCF has some of the worst parking I've ever seen, and I don't even own a car. You're lucky if you find a spot, and if you do, chances are you've still got a five minute walk ahead of you to get where you're going.

My Summer on Campus – Living on campus was more costly than living in an apartment, as I also was forced to have a meal plan because there are no kitchens. The dorms are also a good 10-15 minute walk from any of the classes, and in Florida chances are you're either dealing with extreme heat or pouring rain, so that was another strike against dorms. However I had a good time and made a great deal of friends, so I guess it wasn't all bad.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
