It's Different – Applying for my Major in Religious Studies was easy but it was different. There aren't as many core classes I have to take and there are many electives that are available. All I can give for tips would be make sure you are ready to read.

Realitvely Easy – The history department did not have any special application process when it came to applying. There is nothing special you have to do to declare a major in History, the only thing you're expected to do is to turn in a portfolio of your written work when you graduate.

Learn to Take Standardized Tests! While you go through the trials and tribulations of everyday academic coursework, spend extra time studying for that GRE or whichever standardized test you need to get into your graduate program! While my GPA and work experience where great, I did not get into my program of choice because I can't take standardized tests. Get over your test anxiety and fast because this will be a deciding factor! As far as undergraduate admissions goes, stay on top of the registrars office and any other office that you need to go through to get your classes underway! If you don't stay on top of everything, no one will. UCF isn't called U Can't Finish for no reason...

History Department – While the history department may be small at UCF the quality of the professors is beyond measure. The school has some of the best minds in the field, and while they are often very busy having to teach so many classes, its very easy to build up a relationship with them which will definitely help in both applying to graduate school and in the job market.

Secular Religious Studies – It is particularly interesting that I should be studying Religious Studies at a secular university. I always have people ask me, "Are you going to be a priest/pastor/minister?" It's actually amazing that people think those are the ONLY jobs you can obtain with this major. However, the program itself is much more like history and philosophy than learning to run a church. The workload is fairly easy to complete but that's only because I try not to procrastinate. And I can say whole-heartedly that I have learned a great deal about other religions than my own which I really enjoy.

Always Something to Do – With the theme parks just around the corner, Orlando always has something fun to do on the weekends. Around the campus there are various bars, restaurants and cafes for students to visit. Downtown Orlando is beginning to come into its own and has more to offer than it did just a few years ago.

Knight Life All Night – Orlando is a very interesting city. I came from a much smaller city so to come to one that is bustling at night is new to me. There are many attractions in the city including comedy clubs, shows on campus, concerts, and Disney World along with Universal Studios is only 45 minutes away. At night, each of these places and activities are crowded with many students having fun.

We Boast the Best – We have world renowned professors in all subjects of expertise. I know personally that we have the largest Psychology department in the country and the largest Modeling and Simulation department in all the world! Everyone that I have come across in my time here has been excellent at pointing me in the right direction and helping me achieve academic success. I know the professors really take care in finding the time to be available to students and when they can't they find teaching assistants to be there for you, so you always have someone to turn to with questions or concerns. UCF has a big online community as well, with Facebook groups, online classes, and TA's and professors alike who give out email addresses, so you are never more than a click or in some cases a phone call away from anyone!

Too Young for Me – There are a lot of things to do if you like drinking and clubbing all night. The atmosphere is too young for me or someone who doesn't like an "up all night" lifestyle. There is really no sense of community here. There are really no cultural events unless they are on campus property. Safety is another issue, it's not the best in certain areas and these areas often include off campus housing, WHICH SHOULD BE SAFE! The only thing I have found that interests me is the running community. I have run several 5k races now and there is always a big crowd. Also, if you like to shop, good luck, the nearest mall, Oviedo Mall (formerly known as Oviedo Marketplace) has about 3 shops now, all the rest have packed up and moved. The closest mall that has the things you want would be 30-45 minutes out of your way. If you like the movies, Victoria's Secret and Charlotte Rouse well then the Oviedo Mall will do just fine for you. Nearby attractions include Disney, Universal, Seaworld, Busch Gardens (Tampa), International Drive, Cocoa Beach and Daytona Beach. Again if you are centrally located near the UCF campus, these attractions will take 45+ minutes to get to. Crowds are awful at touristy places like all the above mentioned places. Find a local spot to hang out at if you don't like long lines, hot sticky rides, and overpriced food and drink.

I love my program at school! Health Sciences Pre Clinical is a great major if you are looking to go into the health field.

Health Sciences Pre Clinical – I am in the college COHPA. I am a Health Sciences Pre Clinical major and I am very satisfied with my college. The advisors are very supportive and are always there to help with any questions. The intructors are very passionate about their field of study and most of them only instruct as a second job because they love it. The curriculum covers all aspects of the health care field allowing you to choose any health graduate program.

Always Something to Do – Orlando is a big city with tons of things to do. There is Disney, Universal, Sea World, and many other fun attractions to go to in your spare time. One thing Orlando is not lacking is shopping! There are malls everywhere you look. The city itself is very spread out and has a smaller downtown area than that of Atlanta or L.A. There are many sporting events to go to. There are constantly concerts coming to town at the House of Blues or Hard Rock. It is a great place full of lots of excitement.

Orlando in general with all the Theme parks is already fun its self but to be able to be sooo close to it now is wonderful. Although, I don't go there a lot, since I'm now closer, but it is good to know it is right there.

Endless Things to Do – Orlando. What more needs to be said? A massive city with world-wide known attractions. Disney World and Universal Studios are less than 30 minutes away, as well as the excitement of a tourist-filled Downtown Disney/Kissimmee area. As you get closer to UCF, you will pass by Downtown Orlando, location of a multitude of clubs and bars, as well as the home of the Orlando Magic basketball team and the state of the art new Amway Center. Once you've reached UCF, you are welcomed with some of the best local restaurants around and tons of exciting UCF bars that make our "knightlife." Waterford Lakes shopping center is also located a near 5 minutes from campus, where you can find any store that you need. Orlando is a fast-paced, fun-filled, young, emerging town with a University now second largest in the nation. It's great to be a Knight.

Serious Stuff – Being a computer science major is no joke. However, they made decision-making just a tad bit easier by drawing a diagram concerning which classes are required. They also have special tutoring programs for challenging courses called AllKnight Tutoring.

The stereotypical of rude Floridians are demolished by the residents in Orlando or specifically, the area outside of University of Central Florida. During daytime, it's a homely environment with strangers smiling for no apparent reason and having manners that was one thought to be extinct. During nighttime, neon lights glow where everyone gathers to enjoy the night life.

Orlando Is Like a Playground – There are so many things to do in Orlando all the time! Ucf is very close to so many attractions. Many of my friends have passes to theme parks such as Disney, Islands of Adventure, and Sea World. The nightlife is great in the downtown area and there are always nice places to eat. Also if you like sports, Orlando is home of the ORLANDO MAGIC NBA team. There is never a dull moment in O-Town!!!

The area around where the University is located is truly a college area. There is an immense amount of students and also school pride. Near the school, there is a shopping center called Waterford Lakes, it offers a plethora of stores, restaurants, and even a movie theater. Within minutes you are also able to go to the amusement parks close by such as, Universal Studios or Disney World. Not only is there campus police but there is also a lot of police patroling the area because there are also families with young children in the area. Safety of the students and everyone else is very important. The school is always hosting cultural events such as taste of UCF. You get to learn about other cultures and learn about there culture. Not only is there culture but there's also sports. Orlando has an NBA team and the college teams that get a lot of attention.

Orlando Living – Orlando is an enjoyable place to live. In Orlando you get a good balance because it has downtown Orlando which is similar to a mini New York City where I am from and then you also have all the amusement parks just twenty minutes away. Also near the University of Central Florida there are many places to have fun and great places to eat.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
