It's always sunny is Florida so you'll notice that a lot of the students are cheerful and happy. It also opens up a gateway for more outdoor activities.

I haven't had much experience with campus security at UCF. As of this year UCF is a "smoke-free" campus and I've only seen about 5 students smoking and campus police didn't fall out of the sky and issue a ticket or anything. A lot of people might consider this rule a revocation of freedom but as a non-smoker I appreciate it. I've walked around UCF at night on and off-campus and I have felt very safe. Side note: if one attempts to or actually goes swimming in the precious and sacred fountain of UCF, one will be arrested and I would think expelled from the school. I think that is a little ridiculous but other than that UCF operates much like the real world does I suppose. Follow the rules, life will be fine.

To the average consumer UCF probably has great dining options off-campus. There is every chain-restaurant imaginable with some exceptions but I'm not too keen on chain-restaurants. My only complaint is that the UCF area doesn't have a lot of mom-and-pop type restaurants that are small, local, and great. I like farm-to-market eating and I like Vegetarian. Compared with other places I have been the UCF area isn't very cultured in the food department. I don't mind paying good money for great and HEALTHY food, made by the hands of a family instead of a corporation.

In the library there is a large screen that shows where the open computers are located (what floor and section), this is handy when there's no time to waste. There are a LOT of computers in the library at UCF but you might have to wait for one to open up, it's pretty crowded. I have English classes in the Engineering building and ONLY Engineering students are allowed to use any computer located in this building. This is a problem for me because I like to do last minute work or revisions in the same building as my upcoming class but I don't have an Engineering student's login ID. Printing is easy at UCF, it just requires a couple steps and I've never had to wait to print. Network speed is optimal on both the school's computers and personal ones. I've never had problems with UCF's internet. A personal computer would be helpful to check homework and assignments but you can get the app on your smartphone. You'll just have to budget your time and work a little harder if you don't have your own computer but it is totally possible. A personal printer isn't necessary either. I gave UCF a C+ because of the crowded computer labs and the restrictions on Majors to certain computer labs.

The second largest university in the nation is UCF (that is a fact). Largely because of this, UCF is not lacking in diversity and I believe we widely accept everyone regardless of ethnicity, race, disability, economic background, political beliefs, religion, and sexual orientation. There are plenty of on-campus groups, clubs and programs that focus on these particular aspects. This is a good way for people to discuss issues, raise awareness, and better themselves and their community. Where I grew up the norm was: White, Christian, Republican Straight. Coming to UCF was incredibly refreshing as I was sick of being culturally repressed.

I have never experienced any drugs at my school. I never once heard of anyone even talking about it. I will admit to being somewhat nerdy though. I know that the drugs are in Orlando and that students may use them I just don't have any knowledge of it. Students drink but I didn't see the consumption of alcohol any different that Virginia Tech or other schools I've visited.

There are busses that run in the intermediate area around the school. Orlando is a huge spread out city so most students have cars or bikes as the main mode of transportation. In contrast Virginia Tech did a really awesome job with transportation. There were busses that ran every 15 minutes all over the campus and town so that you really didn't need a car. This being said, Virginia Tech was able to do that pretty easily seeing as it is a smaller school in the rural mountains.

University of Central Florida is a very unique school. It is one of the largest in the country located right inside a very big city. There are so many opportunities to get work experience inside your major of choice. There are internships literally everywhere. UCF does a fabulous job of facilitating a work school environment by providing a strong co-op program for most degree majors and requirements inside your major that make you involved with the school and with the industries outside the school. Whether you want to work in the NBA for the Orlando Magic, help design new technologies at Siemens or NASA, work inside the entertainment industry at SeaWorld or Disney UCF will have an opportunity available to you. This experience and this accessibility to these competitive employers help make UCF very unique and produce employable students with job skills plus the diploma.

I spent my freshman year of college at Virginia Tech and finished my ]Political Science bachelors degree at University of Central Florida- I am now going for a Biology Degree to pursue a medical career, working in the Tax/Bank environment was not what I imagined. UCF is a new school in a huge city so there is lots of distractions available if you allow. The library and Gym have just been remodeled which are nice additions that needed to be done. UCF has also added more parking garages too and brand new nice dorms. That is the real positive thing about UCF is that its still an up and coming school. There is lots of room for development. When I first started at UCF we barely had any tailgating before football games, and now a few years later it is quite a big event. At Virginia Tech tailgates were HUGE and spread across the whole school. There was so much school pride there, I am starting to see UCF get that. At Virginia Tech you are surrounded by these vast mountains, in the spring and fall it is absolutely gorgeous. But in the winter the skies are grey and tends to blend in with the limestone buildings. At UCF it is never gloomy, or cold, it is a very fast paced environment. The fountain outside the library is a great place to talk to friends or relax in between classes and the Student Union has the best Java Joe's Jamaican coffee. There is always someone going somewhere or doing something people are always around. It is a very safe school. UCF has lots of potential. I gave the school a C+ because I feel as though the school needs to work harder to make classes smaller and give more options for professors. One professor should not teach a required course for a huge degree major there must be at least two. The school could also work to give the campus some historical charm as the renovate the buildings. It would be nice if they would name new buildings after people or things that are significant- our football stadium is named after a cable company; and one of the buildings I took many classes in was named Classroom 1, not exactly original.

The drug scene at UCF is not as big as you would think it is. It mostly depends on the people you choose to surround yourself with but usually most of the people just drink and if they choose to do drugs it is usually smoking marijuana.

The local community around UCF is very supportive of all the activities, athletics, and academics the university provides. The university is also close to major theme parks such as, Universal and Disney World, which always gives discounts to UCF students.

UCF provides shuttle buses that transport you around campus and some local locations. There is also a shuttle for other campuses that will take you to the main campus.

The Hospitality College requires you to complete at least 3 semesters of internships so that you will have some experience within the industry before graduating.

As far as the process, I didn't have any problems. But I'm from a middle class family, therefore the only Financial Aid offered were Unsubsidized loans. I'm paying for school on my own. It's not easy.

There are over 20 computer labs available on campus. I have never had any trouble finding an available computer and/or printer at UCF. Our WIFI is protected so that no one that doesn't go to UCF can use it. However there is a Guest WIFI that is just as sufficient and fast as the student WIFI.

Our athletic department is very involved. There is no "I" in team. That's how we view each other. Every student at UCF are fans, our school spirit is like no other. Some of the best athletic facilities for one of the biggest universities in the Nation.
College Sophomore 2013-10-07T00:03:01Z
My school is strict about how their students act outside of school and on campus. They don't like seeing headlines with our name in it. Other than that, my school is very lenient and understanding.

The engineering program, especially industrial, is top notch in ucf and thats only one major. UCF prides themselves in academics there are many services they provide that are free to help you pass your classes all you have to do is look

Health & Safety:
UCF does a lot of email alerts the moment something is going on on or near campus. There are services that they provide for your safety. As long as you are smart and make sure your car, apartment, bike, etc. are locked up and you dont go wandering alone at night while drinking like your going to die in two seconds you will be fine. The school is safe as long as you make smart choices at night.

Guys & Girls:
UCF is a very diverse school, there are people from big cities, some internationally, and others from small home towns. Then there can be people who are engineering majors building rockets on one side of the road then on the other side have the art majors creating a masterpiece or practicing their lines for an audition. This is the same for nationality there is not just african americans, hispanics, asians, or caucasians. UCF is a great school cause its a place where being who you are is the norm and the idea of conforming to follow the crowd is such an old school idea that is frowned upon.
College Sophomore 2013-10-06T21:44:09Z
UCF is one of the most diverse places I have ever been to. Not only does the school have 60,000 students, but every day I meet someone different. I cannot even begin to explain how many religions and ethnicities I see every single day I am on campus. I cannot say that the majority of students are white, black, or Asian because there really is a equal mixture of all races and cultures that come to UCF from all around the world. Everyone I meet is eager to learn about the different backgrounds and practices of other students.
College Sophomore 2013-10-06T21:39:32Z
UCF is really big on sports and making sure everyone has opportunities and is comfortable. The Rec and Wellness center (our gym) is amazing! it is huge and has exercise opportunities for all interests and abilities. There is an olympic sized pool which is open to students to use, there are volleyball courts and racquetball courts, and the Bright House Football Stadium is enormous. The school spirit during football games is indescribable!
College Sophomore 2013-10-06T21:37:19Z
There are not that many parties, and when there are they are not really open to everyone as they are fraternity or sorority parties. Also, most places around the area are 21+ to get in and that excludes pretty much half the student population. Transportation is good, though, because it is provided for all students to get pretty much anywhere near the campus. There is also a shuttle that transports students to and from Downtown Orlando where the main clubs and stuff are!

Health & Safety:
UCF is a huge campus with an enrollment of over 35,000 student.
I have seen that the administration holds Health and Safety as the highest priority. Classrooms, other facilities, and dorms as well as interfaces with the surrounded community are designed and maintained to give perceived and real first class sanitary, healthy, and safe, but comfortable and convenient. Communication between health and safety administration to the student population is excellent. They use emails, text, etc. quite effectively. It certainly is Not a police state. They also try to generate an atmosphere of caring for each other and responsibility. I really experience and feel very good about the provii=sion of health and safety at UCF.

Great Florida weather.
Mostly sunny and warm -- eighties.
Sufficient rain to cool things off.
Cool very pleasant weather ( 50 -70 degrees ) Dec to Feb.
Its the best in the world.
Especially since the campus design and facilities are really well put together for convenient access and safety.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
