Psych Major Review – The instuctors are very knowledgable about the material they teach. There are many research and intern opportunities available for students to gain additional experience in their selected careers. The professors are not only there to teach but to provide students with a great learning experience.

Overall transportation isnt bad if you can catch a shuttle, but do to the vast amount of students at UCF, if you plan on driving your own car you must leave atleast one hour before your class starts in hopes of finding a parking spot. Cost of a permitt is ridiculous, your best bet is to take a shuttle or car pool.

Students are very involved with the sports here and UCF and in large are suportive of thier teams. UCF Football gets the most attention, but that is also becuase that is our schools best sport. The facilities are nice and overall i would say that athletics are one of the better things about the school. Students like to workout here, stay in shape, and that carries over to respect and support of the student athlete and our sports teams.

Great Way to Make Friends – Most of the sororities at UCF have greek housing and a lot of the fraternities have off campus housing. There are plenty of ways to get involved on campus without joining greek life but it does open you to a lot of opportunities to meet friends and get involved.

Living on campus at UCF is very convienient. I lived on campus my first year and really enjoyed it. Parking at UCF is a daily issue and living on campus makes getting to class much earier.
Personally, I lived in Towers at Knight Plaza which are the newest and nicest on campus. They come in 4 bedroom/ 4 bath, 4 bedroom/ 2 bath, and 1 bedroom/ 1 bath. I can't think of anything that I did not like about living on campus at UCF.

Since the University of Central Florida is such a large school, many people have no choice but to live on campus. I think the University knows this, so rent is way over priced and crime on campus is high. I wouldnt want my girlfriend walking to her car at night and alot goes on that ends up being not reported or goes un-noticed. I am very tight on money, but i work more than 40 hours a week in order to not live on campus and pay extra in gas cost. On campus housing is conveniant, but just not worth the money or trouble.

UCF's gym, reconstructed just two years ago, is sponsored by Nike and more than just a big room with some ellipticals and an overwhelming smell of sweat. With multiple levels based on what equipment you want to use, a basketball court, indoor track, pool, rock climbing wall, Subway, and smoothie bar, this gym is incredible and at any given time hopping with students.

They advertise a lot of opportunities for financial aid but I haven't actually found any that work for me. They do give out a significant number of scholarships however (around $5,000-10,000) for your college career. Greek life also makes a ton of scholarships available to you as well. Even after a significant loss in earnings last year, my family and I did not qualify for another form of financial aid though.

It rains a lot here but it comes with the Florida territory. People buy rainboots and get over it, always having an umbrella on hand. UCF sends out emergency text messages in the case of bad weather warning you to seek shelter so you never feel blindsighted or nervous about going into the rain. Hurricane season can be a little scary, but everything is secure and classes get canceled. Professors are pretty understanding about canceling classes for rainy weather because they have to walk to the classroom in it to.

UCF has plenty of options for tutoring or extra help. There is a separate tutoring center for econ, science, math etc to help you master whatever difficulties you may be having. Signing up for classes is a breeze and can be done months ahead of time to organize the schedule you really want. Professors can be really nice and are available for help or a discussion. Most classes don't have too much "homework" to be done outside of class. A few essays here and there and reading assignments is all I've noticed. UCF has great programs to get involved in such as LEAD scholars and the Honors program. There is a place for everyone to succeed. The greek life here is so involved with academics and has an impact on the social life as well. Nothing is too overwhelming and the campus is very easy to navigate.

There aren't too many rules causing censorship with our academic or social lives. There are rules in dorms such as no drinking and drug use on campus but aside from that we are free to live as we please as long as we don't cause a disturbance to others.

Health & Safety:
Cannot Say Yet – I am transferring to the college this semester. So far, so good but I have not had any real encounters.

Nothing to Brag About – I'm not really a party person but when I did go out, I found the bars to be not the scene for me and way too "dancing on the floor is like having sex with your clothes on." Although some places are moderately priced such as the Knight Library with Friday's happy hour where its all you can drink beer for an admission price of merely $5 but most of the time there's only one choice and it depends on the week that you will a decent beer. The underage drinking at the bars near campus are ridiculous, you can get away with almost anything.

More Diverse Than Other College Campuses – I believe that UCF is the most diverse campus out there, mostly due to the fact that a large population of Orlando is Hispanic then add students from other states along with various ethnic/racial groups from all over Florida attend UCF (including international students).

Guys & Girls:
There is a very eclectic group of students at this university as a whole, individually I have found the girls on campus to be more of the sorority type than anything else. Other girls can vary from one extreme to another, i.e. they can be goths or they can be extremely nerd-like and academically obsessive. The guys on campus vary depending on where you are, I've seen most to be fraternity type of guys and others to be either surfers, hippie-types, and preppy.

The classes and schedules offered to working professionals are very convenient and flexible, allowing both traditional classroom settings as well as online distance education.

Because UCF is located in Orlando, there is a large variety of off campus dining at any cost level. My favorite is Panera, but I often frequent other restaurants that offer student discounts.

Lots of Room to Part – There is plenty of room to park at many locations around campus. The parking lots/towers are monitored for safety and violations on a regular basis. Presonally, I think a parking permit should be part of your tuition, so the $80 fee seems excessive to me.

Computer Access – UCF has mobile carts with laptops that professors often use in their instruction.

The financial aid office at UCF is excellent. They have always been extremely helpful and informative whether contacted in person, over the phone, or by email.

M. Ed Math and Science Education – The coursework assigned for this degree is well paced and very doable for the working teacher. I have applied many of the concepts I've learned in my classroom on a regular basis.

Graduate Level Professors – UCF's graduate level professors are outstanding. They have a great depth of knowledge and experience to share with their students and they truly care about the educational institution as well as the graduate student.

I love this school. academic programs are excellent and anyone can find help if they need it. There is everything you can possibly want on campus. Many clubs and activities to get involves as well.

Alcohol and Drugs – This is college so most people do drink. Many do it as a social thing which isn't a bad thing. Some people do go overboard and blackout but don't really regret it because they have the time of their lives. The dorms don't allow any alcohol or drugs and if they do catch you, they could kick you out. Some people do drugs outside of dorms and I haven't really seen anyone get in trouble for it.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
