Best Dorms in Florida – UCF has by far the best on and off campus housing options available for students. Once you have visited dorms at every University in the state of Florida, there is not a single comparison to UCF. UCF is one of the few schools that does not have residence hall style bathrooms, where the whole floor or more than 4 people have to share a bathroom. The best place to live on campus is in the Towers, or in the Academic village by the gym. They are located by the arena and shopping plaza. They are brand new, you have your own bedroom, living room, kitchen, some have private baths, and others you share with one roommate. I lived in Libra, I shared a large room with 1 person, and a bathroom with 2 other suitemates. The atmosphere is incredible, each community forms extremely close bonds and its own culture. I would say the worst place to live is Lake Claire apartments. Not because of what they offer, they are great because they are apartment style living, but they are the farthest away from the other communities. Housing is also pretty affordable, and worth the cost. I recommend that everyone live on campus at least their first year.

Laid Back – students arent supposed to drink in dorms but all of them do. campus police arent too strict, wont really bust up a group of drunks walking around campus unless they are unruly. no real rules except behave like a college aged kid should.

School Spirit – This school has a lot of school spirit. I went to a game not too long ago and you even see professors right next to students doing the wave or coming up with with their own uniguw skits. It is funny just watching the teachers letting loose and making foos of themselves!!!!

The admissions process is excellemt. As a prospective future student, they are more then willing to assist you with the enrollment process. The counslors that they have on board on profiecient and very understanding and are available at all times to assist you with the process. They even go the extra mile to help transfer students, like myself.

Always Something Going on – There is always something happening here. So many organizations provide an awesome view of the school and whats going on around it. There's never a dull day.

Guys & Girls:
Guys Are Gorgeous – The guys are the typical Floridan. Gorgeous sun kissed skin with blonde hair bleached from the sun. Girls are tan and pretty, most with hair that's straight and long. A lot of the school has an interest in being active with the community.

FOOD FOOD FOOD – All you see around the UCF campus are different types of restaurants for different personal tastes. While most of these are fast food places, there are quite a few inexpensive options that can be much healthier as well.

Health & Safety:
Healthy Knights – UCF has one of the largest gyms I have ever seen. As a college freshman, "freshman 15" was a fear of mine. Living on campus 2 minutes away from the gym made it easy for me to be inspired to workout especially with such a beautiful gym. UCF also has a police station and transportation services that will give a ride to any student who feels walking alone is too dangerous.

I Wouldn't Know – While I am aware drinking was popular and I'm sure i overheard a few drunks and their parties. But i was never exposed to any kind of peer pressure. People respected my decision to abstain.
As for drugs aside from smelling marijuana smoke sometimes when i lived in the dorm or around campus it doesn't seem too common.
Although I have no clue how well UCF enforces their policies. I never saw any kind of enforcement so there isnt much to say about that.

Freshman Dorms Are Interesting – We got very cozy on my floor when i lived in Freshman on campus housing. Our R.A. was approachable and nice and there were weekly events that were generally fun. We also had a cleaning lady who came in and cleaned the bathrooms and vacuumed. The downsides were that the place was old and the white brick walls were a bit reminiscent of an asylum. Not to mention paperthin walls and floors meant i had to keep the volume down and got to hear every party or argument that went on whether it was next door, upstairs, downstairs, or outside my window. Also the carpets were dirty and turned your feet black if you walked on them barefoot.

B.A. in Cinema Sudies – Most of the classes are really interesting. There's a heavy focus on the history of film and independent film making and a lot of the teachers tend to favor the B.F.A. students but its still really interesting. None of the classes overload you with work and the assignments are usually interesting and fun. For one class I helped promote a film at the Florida film festival which was a fascinating experience

The transportation at ucf is horrible. Its so much easier living in student housing and riding the shuttle. The parking is very bad its always hard to find spaces, they continue to build garages but that doesn't help. They UCF shuttles are very convenient and you don't waste any gas.

Greek life at ucf is always around. You can usually catch a yard show on wednesdays. They are very appealing, and they have parties which is cool and something to do on the weekends. As a non greek i see it as an opportunity to join and a group and become apart of something. They have all kinds for all different purposes.

UCF is a very diverse campus, there are so many types of people and so much to do. You have all kinds of clubs and organizations that you can join. You will see people of all races and nationalities. Students are overall very easy going i have been here 2 years and haven't ran into any trouble. I am a Proud Knights. I love UCF!

Buses Are There for Convenience – UCF has many off-campus apartment complexes surrounding it, at least 10 different communities, and because parking can be a nightmare on campus due to the sheer number of people that attend the school, there are always buses going to and from the apartments. This is a huge convenience to anyone who lives in an apartment off campus and doesn't want to drive to school and deal with finding a parking space, so it's definitely a plus. Also UCF has recently partnered with Orlando's public transportation company, Lynx, to create a bus line called KnightLynx. These buses run on the weekends, are free for UCF students, and have stops at all of the local bars and clubs, this is definitely convenient, because then someone going to or coming from a bar or club doesn't have to worry about finding a ride or a designated driver, so it's a major plus.

Greeks Are Alright – The Greek Life at UCF is good, the school has numerous fraternities and sororities for one to choose from, but the Greek scene is dominated by a few large organizations, about 3 or 4 fraternities, and 4 sororities. In terms of how Greeks are looked at by non-Greeks, most people on campus don't care either way, they'll interact with each other, and others don't like the Greeks at all, which is expected at any school. The Greeks don't really dominate the school, they may think they do, but they're biggest problem is that they're all the same. The Greeks at UCF aren't very diverse, they're basically all the stereotypical frat guys with short khaki shorts, flip flops or sperries, a polo shirt, and sun glasses with something on the back of them that keeps them around their necks. It seems like once someone joins certain fraternities, they almost immediately act and dress like the rest of the frat. This isn't the case with all of the fraternities, but I have noticed it with some of them. Overall, Greek life at UCF is a great way to meet a lot of people very fast, and is generally great fun.

The Campus Is Phenomenal – UCF has the most beautiful college campus I've ever had the privilege of stepping foot on. There are palm trees and other aesthetically pleasing landscape features all over the campus. Also, the campus was modeled after the theme park Epcot at Walt Disney World, using Disney's idea of many circles within one big circle. So the one big circle is the road that goes around the entire campus, then there are a few other large circular paths around the college, with other paths connecting them throughout the campus, this makes UCF a "pedestrian friendly college," meaning you can safely and easily walk anywhere on the campus. UCF is also one of the largest campuses in the nation, and because it was only created in 1963, most of the buildings are very young and up to date with today's technology. In my mind, UCF has the best campus out of any college in the whole nation, it's a pleasure to attend school there.

Food is all around, but we have to be careful of what we eat. It may come back to you later in the bathroom.

The Open – Orlando is very diverse. With all the theme park attractions and sports teams located nearby, it is a great attraction for college students and people who come to visit our school.

Pick Your Poison – At UCF you can choose to go out or attend house parties, and you will not be disappointed with either choice. Clubs are great here and are VERY lenient when it comes to age. Clubs are walking distance from campus, and there are buses that can take you to the downtown ones. House parties just as well will not disappoint. If you are attending a house party most likely you will be off campus were the rules are less strict, but again you will not be disappointed.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
