The University of Central Florida offers a wide variety of parties and organizations that host events for students above and below the legal age. There is safe ride transportation in the form of taxi vouchers and pre-reserved buses to and from the downtown and surrounding areas as well as completely dry events, such as comedy shows, movies on the lawn, and completely dry dance parties and events every other week in the fall and spring semesters. There is room for improvement as far as making sure that underage students are safe during events such as tailgating, but all and all, the events on campus are way beyond par.

it has been a bit of a struggle but figuring it all out and trying to finish the process now.

Health & Safety:
There was only one incident in my college career at UCF where I felt unsafe. There was a student that lived in my dorm building that was planning an attack on all the students that lived in that building. He had explosive devices and guns and ammo. He killed himself before hurting anyone else but it was definitely a terrifying experience. It was definitely something that I'll never forget and I felt as if UCF let us down in terms of our safety. I feel as if it could've been prevented but maybe that's just wishful thinking. Either way, it was scary.

While there are a variety of religions and races at UCF, the majority of the student body is white. I personally have no problem with that but it does make it harder for people of different ethnicities to find other people that they can really relate to in terms of their ethnic background.

Greek life at UCF dominates. It's not something that I personally support but there are a lot of supporters and the administration is at the top of that list. Students that participate in Greek life at UCF are snobby and stuck-up. I haven't heard about any philanthropy that they're supposedly doing. Honestly, all I hear about are all the "awesome" parties that happen like every weekend. It's kind of sad honestly.

Guys & Girls:
There are way too many self-centered sorority/fraternity students. I feel as UCF is mainly focused on Greek life which makes it harder for other organizations to shine. I am a neutral party seeing as I am not affiliated with Greek life or any other organization. I am just speaking from what I've observed. The only social life that I know about around here are the clubs/bars that are really close off-campus and frat parties.

We always seem to be winning! And I have a few friends on the soccer team and they say it's a lot of work but they love it. All games are played conveniently on campus, whether it's soccer, football, tennis, softball, baseball, or basketball, its all within a 5 minute walk from each other.

Most everything is quick, and a chain within 3-5 minutes of campus. Some of the places are healthy like Hummus House or even Chipotle. There are of course fast food places everywhere near campus, but I don't eat that. My favorite restaurants are 10-20 minutes away in Thorton Park, Winter Park and Waterford. I love Sleepy Moon for coffee and music, Ethos and Dandelion for eating out on a budget (Vegan, no more than $15). And Firstwatch or Keke's for breakfast is great!

I did not apply for financial aid because I transferred from a school out of state. It was a frustrating process that most scholarships offered were only for transfers from Valencia or BCC or students that came in as freshmen. If I was not in this situation, then I would probably applaud the scholarships because most everyone I talk to is receiving money from UCF.

Student life is very social and booming at UCF. UCF has a ton of clubs and events that students participate in. These events promote school spirit and encourage social activity. The clubs are also a major part of student life, helping to bring students together for fun activities.

I love the plethora of scholarships that are offered at UCF, I always try to get every scholarship I can because it is a great opportunity to lower the cost of classes and other expenses. The UCF scholarship page has scholarship opportunities for just about anybody.

If you stay on campus and live in a dorm I advise you to get a meal plan even though its a little costly but if you stay off campus you really shouldn't get one but the food is great.

The campus of UCF is extremely large as well as the student body. The facilities of UCF are very organized but might be a bit hard to find at times. I like the size of the campus and student body because it adds a touch of diversity to the school and also makes UCF feel like a small community.
College Junior 2013-05-30T15:53:12Z
The dorms at UCF are great they are near everything you need and the housing process is really smooth. I really enjoyed staying in Hercules because the pool was nearby and gym was right in front of it. I give the social atmosphere an A+ because as a male there were always girls around looking for something to do.

I believe that if you get to campus at a certain time, then parking is relatively easy to find. If there is some sort of event going on, then parking is much harder to find but it is very possible. There are several garages that students and staff can park in which makes it more convenient to find parking.
College Junior 2013-05-30T15:42:32Z
The cost for a parking pass pretty expensive but it's worth if you stay off campus and your always on campus for like class, the gym or other activities like sporting events. It takes a while to find a good parking spot so show up early.

U of Central Florida is in an ever so busy environment, Orlando makes anything possible, entertainment wise.
College Senior 2013-05-29T22:18:38Z
There really is not much tradition due to lack of background. Other than that its a pretty, and always entertaining campus. I love it!

When it's hot, it's really hot! It rains a lot during the summer, but we don't have much of a 'winter' so that would be a nice break for people from up north

The campus buses are very reliable and have a set course that is easy to follow. There are also cars that you can borrow/rent that have a parking spot right on campus. Also, if you are out late and feel uncomfortable making it back to your place, there is a number you can call and they will escort you back to where you live free of charge.

Health & Safety:
UCF does a great job at making their students feel secure. Students are given a list of different numbers that they are able to call for safe rides, escorts to assist them across campus or for the local police. The campus has many lights for night time. I have never felt unsafe at school.

There are many different students who attend this university. I have come to realize that there are a wide variety of students in each and every class that I am in.

Orlando is a densely populated area, so there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to dining. Fast food, Walk-in restaurants, Deli's, you name it, we've got it. It might not be the most gourmet food you'll eat, but it tastes good and it fills you up at a reasonable price.
College Junior 2013-05-29T15:48:12Z
While for engineers, UCF is a good choice, overall I feel the school has sacrificed size for quality. UCF is a very easy university to get into, which has led to a very large attendance population, which in my opinion is too large. Our faculty to staff ratio is poor and I feel as though that hinders the effectiveness of the university, especially when you regularly get classes with over 200 people in them. As for the faculty themselves, I have had trouble learning from the majority of my professors. A few of them seemed as if sometimes they were unsure about what they were teaching, which led them to teach right from the book, which does not help us students to grasp the concepts at hand. I think UCF has the potential to be a great university, if only it held itself to a higher standard.

I do not participate in the athletics department but the Recreation and Wellness Center is incredible and has so much to do! You can even get a workout on the rock climbing wall.
