College Prowler Take
While most students couldn’t tell you a thing about the athletes at UCF, they definitely could talk your ear off about their tailgating experiences. Students anticipate the football season and the tailgating parties that precede the games. The drinking and partying that takes place on the field outside the stadium often prevents students from actually attending the football game itself due to their high levels of intoxication. This is a problem that UCF officials and UCF administration are trying to correct. The attendance at games is poor for all sports. UCF lacks spirit probably due to the fact that the school isn’t ranked that high in popular sports such as basketball and football. But they have the ability to improve, and they’re doing so every year. The baseball team is actually really good at UCF, as are the cheerleading squad and the Ultimate Frisbee team. For dedicated UCF fans, there are teams out there worth cheering for. Students who partake in IM sports enjoy the competitive atmosphere and like forming teams with their friends.

UCF is definitely working on...
UCF is definitely working on building up their sports, which is a cool thing to watch. Our basketball teams (men and women) are pretty good, and so is our softball team. Intramural sports are very easy to get involved with---free, fun, and a great way to stay in shape while having fun with friends. I met new people that way, too.

I have only attended the football games, which are a blast! I have seen the intramural sports played in the Rec/Wellness Center but have not participated in them.

Varsity sports are not marketed...
Varsity sports are not marketed and advertised well to the students. I don't really go to any of the events other than football on a regular basis. I play a lot of intramural sports and enjoy them, as well as the turfs and facilities where we play.

First, I must say that the UCF gym...
First, I must say that the UCF gym is wonderful. It's always packed, but they are expanding it. They offer great classes, too, like spinning and kickboxing. Basketball and football are pretty huge, and we have some of the best cheerleaders in the nation. They placed in the top three for the past few years now in the national competition.

Getting Tickets
All UCF students get into athletic events for free with their school IDs. For non-students, there is a TicketMaster on campus or you can order them on-line off the UCF Web site. Tickets are reasonably priced from $5–$15.
Most Popular Sports
Baseball, basketball, football
Most Overlooked Teams
Women’s rugby, the cheerleading team, and IM ultimate Frisbee, as well as the men’s crew club, which has won more state championships than any other UCF team.
Best Place to Take a Walk
If you like woods, then you’re in luck—there are miles of trails on UCF’s property that aren’t developed. If you’re not the woods type and are just looking for eye candy, then walk from the student union to the gym. This takes you past the meal plan, so you can also see if there is anything good on the menu.
