Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Greek students at UCF are enthusiastic and have a very visible presence on campus. Members of fraternities and sororities provide the majority of school spirit at UCF. It’s also safe to say that no other segment of the student population has dedicated more time and resources or has raised more money for charities than the members of the UCF Greek community.Students who join fraternities and sororities seem happy with their decision. It’s a social and active way to be involved while making lasting friendships. Going away to college can be scary and unfamiliar; joining a Greek organization can make this transition easier and more fun.

For the most part, students are involved in Greek life for their freshman and sophomore years, with participation and dedication trailing off after that. Many students don’t feel that joining a fraternity or a sorority is right for them. They don’t feel alienated or overlooked due to this decision. Weigh your decision whether joining a Greek organization is right for you, and whatever you decide UCF is sure to have something for you.

Greeks

We have an active Greek life, but it isn't everything at UCF. For people not in the Greek life, we can still go to some of the parties and hangout with Greeks. Some greeks can be irritating since they think they are better but not all are bad. We have a decent, but somewhat small Greek row but also some houses off campus.

Not a Fan of Greek Life

While being a part of Greek Life may seem glamorous and partying every weekend with large groups of people sounds like fun, it may be detrimental to your education. UCF is occupied by several frats and sororities, all neatly placed along Greek row. It's not important to be apart of a frat or sorority, but it's also not a bad thing to be apart of one. It all depends on how you choose to spend your time. Many non-Greeks are indifferent towards Greeks, but several non-Greeks are completely appalled at the thought of Greek life. They do help out around UCF with different tasks, which I have yet to see or experience, but they also are mainly known for their parties and get-togethers.

Relations Are Neutral

Greek life at UCF isnt overbearing. It plays a role in "uniting" certain aspect of the school but it is not expected nor required to be a part of one in order to contribute and enjoy the school. There is a balance with the Greek life around campus, and for the most part with the exception of extremists, people in the greek life are usually pretty down to earth. Greek students are sometimes viewed as cocky or even shallow. Different types of Greek housing is available, some people even make out of school apartments into a Greek building!
