College Prowler Take
By a majority vote, living off campus isn’t just the right way to go, it’s the only way. UCF is a huge commuter school with most of its students living off campus in either apartments or houses. In and around the UCF area, it’s easy to find what suits you and your budget. Many complexes are geared towards student housing and offer individual leases for each tenant. Apartments can offer you what dorms can’t—your own washer and dryer, your own bedroom and bathroom, balconies, clubhouses, and many other amenities. Apartments are conveniently located next to campus; some are as close as one mile away. Living off campus is convenient and more private. Off-campus living is very social; many students meet their friends through being neighbors and bumping into each other in their complexes. Off-campus living is strongly recommended.

Off-campus housing is readily available and certainly worth it. It is less expensive and can be bigger, also usually allowing pets. Realtors are available, but it is easy to go to individual apartment complexes and get information from them directly.

It is rather convenient. I haven't had much of a problem finding housing, but it can get pricey. The best bet is to rent a house and not live in the apartment complexes.

Off-campus housing is really...
Off-campus housing is really expensive for college apartments, but it comes with furniture for the most part. Living in a house is much more affordable, but then you have to worry about not having individual leases. College apartments go fast, so most students sign their leases around January, which is six months before move-in date. My roommate and I signed in either April or May of last year, and there was only one apartment with two bedrooms left, so we had to have random roommates.

Why wait to live off campus after freshman year? Do it right away. Students from many other schools don’t have this option. |
