School Spirit
Every fall semester, UCF has a designated week called Spirit Week. The week ends with the homecoming football game. Each night of Spirit Week, a different event takes place. An outdoor movie is shown on campus ground in front of the Arena one night. Another night, a well-known comedian (Dave Attell and Bill Maher have performed in the past) usually performs in the arena, often accompanied by a popular band (Busta Rhymes and 311 have played in the past). A skit night/competition is held in the arena (dominated by Greek organizations) during the week, as well.
The highlight of Spirit Week is “Spirit Splash.” On this one ccasion, students are permitted to jump into the Reflection Pond. Special preparation goes into this event, and thousands of students join in the fun and jump in the fountain while a band plays in the background. A pep rally hypes up the crowd for the homecoming game. A parade is held before the big game, complete with many decorated floats. Many of the floats are built by UCF students that are members of a fraternity or sorority. Spirit Week is a blast! Be sure to get a free T-shirt with the homecoming theme printed on it. T-shirts are given out throughout the week.
