Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The drug and alcohol scene on campus is pretty large. A majority of the student body drinks, especially on the weekends. There are a variety of drugs being used. You can find tobacco, marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, and prescription pills. However, those hard drugs don’t dominate life—it’s mostly just marijuana. There is enough variety of people’s involvement with drugs and alcohol that if it’s not your thing, you won’t feel pressure to participate. You’ll see people with drugs and alcohol mostly at parties over the weekends. It’s not a daily presence.

The school is incredibly lax when it comes to alcohol. There are rumors that there has never been a drinking ticket issued. Obviously, if you throw a massive party in your dorm room, there will be some consequences. However, if you are able to keep yourself in control, you will be fine. Authorities are stricter about drug use, which is why you won’t find anyone openly using. The University abides by federal laws, so you will get in trouble if you are caught with illegal drugs. In addition, you could receive a sanction from the University. Those sanctions range from getting kicked out of housing to being expelled. Overall, if you want drugs or alcohol on campus, you can find them, and as long as you are responsible and can control yourself, you won’t get in trouble. If you don’t want them, you might have to deal with other people drinking and using drugs, but you won’t be pressured into doing anything outside of your comfort zone.

Not Big

There is a crowd of people here who drink, and a crowd of people here who do drugs. Generally, they end up at all the same parties, and end up hanging out in apartments second year. The administration is very lax with that sort of thing, but it's still not very significant on campus.

Probably There If You Need It

I'm not really into the drug scene, but I know things like psychedelics, weed, and likely others are easily obtainable if you know the right people. That being said it doesn't have a gigantic presence, even at most parties.

Safe Environment

Drinking is accepted as something college students will do on campus, so the university is not too strict in enforcing anything, although they are available for safety reasons. The drug scene is not very prevalent
