Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are a number of off-campus restaurants that are incredibly convenient for students. You only have to walk a couple of blocks from the main quad before you are in the Hyde Park restaurant Mecca. The main concentrations of places are on 53rd and 57th streets. A lot of restaurants around Hyde Park will also give students discounts. They deliver anywhere on campus and also cater student events. The best part about off-campus dining is the variety. No matter what your favorite kind of food is, there is a place for you. There is Ethiopian, Thai, Chinese, American, barbecue, Italian, sushi, Greek, and on and on. There are also multiple options for each group, so you won’t get stuck going to one restaurant for your entire four years.

The prices are also incredibly reasonable. Local restaurant owners understand that their main customers are students, so they price their food with that in mind. If you are trying to go to a nice place, there are also fancier sit-down restaurants; they run a little pricier, but they are great locations for a parents' visit or a date. And if you’re ever bored of Hyde Park, you have the entire city of Chicago as your restaurant playground. Head downtown and explore because Chicago boasts some of the best restaurants in the world.

Not a Huge Variety...

There are a few good restaurants in the area, but not much fast food etc. that's super accessible. But the dining hall is pretty good and if you go downtown then the food is great so it's not really a problem.

Diverse

You can get anything around Hyde Park, and almost every restaurant has deals for students. Thai food's really popular around here, with 3 Thai restaurants along 55th street. Also check out Obama's favourite, Medici Bakery and Restaurant!

Okay

Harold's Chichen is the best, but there's Wok 'N Roll, Thai 55, The Med, and The Big Easy Just opened up. There's also a Five-Guys that just opened up. Honestly if you want good food just go into the city.
