Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

When it comes to on-campus dining, there aren’t a lot of options. For the most part, if you visit the student center, expect to chow down on your typical fast food menu items: burgers, fries, pizza, and chili. The lines are generally pretty horrible from noon until 2 p.m. because students are taking breaks from class to grab lunch. It’s not ideal to go to Tangeman if you’re looking for a quick, healthy meal. Subway is a great addition to the on-campus food lineup because it’s one of the only healthy food options. There's also a new Chick-fil-A. However, these places can be extremely busy at lunchtime. Oftentimes, there is a line out to the door, so if you can wait until mid-afternoon for a meal, it’s probably worth the wait.

The dining halls are decent but expensive if you don’t have a meal plan. They tend to be steady as far as business goes, but you can get in and out quickly. The food isn’t amazing—it’s basically dining hall food—but students will appreciate the variety the dining halls have to offer. For the most part, there are several different stations where students can get any kind of meal they like. The stir-fry station, when it’s offered, is great and a healthier option than pizza and hamburgers. But, you could probably get it cheaper at the Chinese restaurants off campus.

Meal Plan, Option 1, 2, or 3

There are only three dining halls where the meal plan swipes apply. Only one of them is near a resident hall, the other two are in the center of campus. Center Court has the best variety, offering almost any type of food. But it is always busy around lunch and dinner time, to the point that there's no where to sit if you get there a couple minutes late. Stadium View isn't as crowded but it has a much smaller variety. I haven't been to Market Point yet, so I don't know what it's like. I get the impression from others that it's not as crowded as Center Court.

Good

There is an awesome variety of places to eat on and off campus. The restaurants are changing frequently too, in order to keep up with the trends of what the students want to eat. The dining halls have good healthy and good comfort food choices as well.

Its Ok Food

The dining halls at UC are good at times and not at others. The food gets old if you need to eat it everyday. The places off campus are unique which can make eating around campus good.
