Lack of Student Interaction on UC's Campus
When I attended the University of Cincinnati there were too many separate groups of people often distiquished by race. What really bothered me that there were so many students that are loners. Sure they all try to play tough guy or gal but deep down inside they lack the proper people skills to socialize and make friends.
When you go into the student center you see a lot of students sleeping instead of studying. I bet if some of their parents knew they were sleeping instead of studying they would get a stiff reality check. Another observation I made about UC's main campus is that it encourages poor eating habits. Most of the nutritional foods for the students cost too much so the students have to eat junk food and drink pop.
There are also safety issues at UC's main campus where students and staff are being assulted as they go to their cars. This is not cool because someone is going to get seriously hurt and it may not be the victim. I think these are just hate crimes by people who have violence on their mind and think nothing can stop them from committing a crime. It's not a good idea to instill fear into an unsupecting person even a woman who may not realize her stength when in a intimidating situation.
Maybe UC might want to form a safety committee to ensure that students and faculty are safe returning to their cars or off campus residencies.
I used the library at UC often and their were some mean librarians there who may have been overwhelmed with personal problems and lashed out at me once. This should not be tolerated by whomever is in charge of the library. As a student, you have the right to use the library and ask questions if you need to. The library needs to hire students for that specific purpose probably offer them work study. The problem is there are so many older people returning to college and they need help with new technology.
The rec center on UC's main campus is smelly and they should practice more cleaning methods. All in all I enjoyed my attendence at the University of Cincinnat because I was working to get my degree but they should be open to changes.
