Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Looking over the list of dining options that Boulder has to offer, one might think they were in a city such as Los Angeles or New York. But don’t let the out-of-state license plates fool you, this is Colorado, and we just happen to have it that good. Depending on the appetite or mood, a multitude of Boulder restaurants, coffeehouses, delis, and juice joints remain connoisseurs in catering to a variety of cravings and needs. Early risers requiring a caffeine fix can easily purchase a latté and a freshly-baked muffin from at least three different establishments scattered throughout the Hill—adding only a few short minutes to a student’s daily walk to class. For lunch, Illegal Pete’s is a favorite, based on the daily long lines. Yet, if a gigantic five-dollar burrito doesn’t seem worth the wait, students simply continue towards Deli Zone or Salvaggio’s for a cheesesteak or turkey sub served on fresh-baked bread.

On the same block, students enjoy Happa’s happy hour, where appetites gather around the elevated sushi bar. Those who prefer their food cooked over a grill often choose Thunderbird for burgers, while others opt for healthy international cuisine. Pearl street area offers some of the finest in cuisine and is easily one of the most popular areas to visit for a nice dinner out. With The Kitchen being named best restaurant by The New York Times all the way to The Med having such a great variety of really tasty food for a price that wont break the bank. There is a little something for everyone in order to have a nice dinner out on the town. Dig in!

Dining on the Hill

There are many dining options located off campus. A favorite place to go for many students is the Hill. There is a large variety to choose from to satisfy any mood or taste. From sandwiches to Thai food, the Hill offers quality food to satiate any hunger. A downside to this is that although the quality is above average, so is the price.

Boulder Appetite

Besides the cafeterias and dining options offered on CU Campus, there is a variety of nearby options for eating. Most local being that of "The Hill" located a block West of Main Campus. Although there is no where remarkably cheap, students have the option of pizza, sandwiches, burgers, thai, mexican, vietnamese, chinese and sushi all within close walking distance from campus. Prices obviously range, but students have the option of either cheap dollar slices, offered ALL day at Fatty J's, or more gourmet slices offered at local pizzeria's such as ABO's or Cosmos! Besides pizza The Hill also offers multiple sandwich options and ethnic dishes. I would say you can usually assume to spend at least $5-$15 on a meal depending on which restaurant you chose. Personally I'd always suggest checking out The Sink if you want an awesome atmosphere and sit-down meal. I'd also say Ghurkahs has the best chicken masala and ethnic food around! :) happy eating yall!

The Hill

The Hill is where most of the off-campus food places are. The off campus dining options are overall a pretty good selection. There are a lot of pizza places and sandwich shops though, and not many mexican cuisine options.
